The other night I've end up in emergency care
Due to extreme pain the lovely Dr prescribed me very strong medicines

When finally I'd arrive home I was absolutely exhausted by the pain

I took half of prescribed dose and went to bed

The next morning I took another tablet and again just half of the dose!

Suddenly after another tablet I'd develop very serious side effects

I couldn't breathe and lost feeling in my hands and legs!!

I'm wrong to think I was lucky I didn't take two of them like Dr advised me

I was on my own at home that day....

Did you call the doctor?

natual · 25/05/2014 13:22

No it went away and I'd never took another one cos I was to scare

Does it means I'm allergic to this particular medicine or I was not strong enough to take it in first place?

I dont know tbh, i think you should ring the GP and tell them/ ask about it just incase you need to be checked out.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 25/05/2014 13:26

You had a potentially serious reaction to a medication and havent mentioned this to any medical professional???

MmeMorrible · 25/05/2014 13:27

If in extreme pain why would you take half the prescribed dose?

If you think you have had a reaction or experienced a side effect then tell your GP. Otherwise the next time you are in A&E how will the dictor know not to prescribe the same medication? You may nit be able to tell them or remember the name correctly.

Why did you only take half the dose? Were potential side effects on your mind?

Serious side effects to medication don't usually 'go away' after a couple of minutes...and i'm guessing that if the side effect had been longer than that you would have called GP/999.

Feeling breathless and losing feeling in your hands and feet are also side effects of a panic attack...which may have happened if you were thinking about the possibility of side effects.

I had a friend in school who once had an anaphylactic (sp) reaction to nuts in front of me...it was a proper 999 job, she was incredibly ill from it. I was about ten at the time and from that point forwards I've always had a mild 'phobia' about nuts, and won't eat them. I KNOW i'm not allergic but, even now as a rational adult, I can't eat them, and if I ever find out I've unknowingly eaten something with nuts I can feel my throat tightening and a wobbly feeling in my legs - typical of a panic attack.

I was to tired and to exhausted when I finally come back to home hours passed since I've been seen by Dr

I don't know why I've took just half
Its very strong medicine so maybe that was the main reason

How long did the side effects last?

natual · 25/05/2014 13:47

Keeping no I'm sure it wasn't self suggestion about side effects

And apart from that it took me a few hours to be actually able to move from bed
