Blooming Trampoline

I have just bought a 12' trampoline for my son. DH and DS13 have spent all day trying to put it together and as soon as the last spring is put in place the whole thing warps.

When I spend £200 on an item surely it should do what it's supposed to do.

Any helpful hints gratefully received.

DH usually fairly handy with this sort of thing.

What brand is it?

GloryHunter · 25/05/2014 00:32

It's from Argos, on their website and has 37 good reviews Shock

Are you sure it's standing on level ground?

Have all the sections of the frame been fully and tightly slotted together?

We have a round 12' TP, and I cannot imagine anything else that might make it warp.

ICanSeeTheSun · 25/05/2014 00:35

DH put my much younger sister trampoline together, let say that night he resorted to JD straight.

GloryHunter · 25/05/2014 00:38

Yes it's on level ground with all parts of the frame tightened. I will have to call the customer helpline on Tuesday, such a shame as DS was so excited.

Go in to the store tomorrow and see if they can swap it..

ICanSeeTheSun · 25/05/2014 00:56

Do yourself a favour and pay for assembly

chocolatespiders · 25/05/2014 01:00

There is probably advice videos on youtube!

Canthisonebeused · 25/05/2014 01:09

Have you read very carefully as there is a certain order of placing the springs.

Nocomet · 25/05/2014 01:22

Yes, check the spring fitting order, ensure ground is flat and all joints are slid totally together.

We have doe 10 and 14ft tp ones no bother.

emms1981 · 25/05/2014 01:27

My mil bought the boys one last summer, I said would be lovely but bare in mind it will be out all winter, well the poor thing has blown round the garden, the net is in a sorry state and the polls are now bent :(

Fourarmsv2 · 25/05/2014 02:37

Ours is six years old and has been moved twice.

Spring order is essential for getting the Mat on, can't imagine the frame warping it's so strong.

Maybe you got a dud. Take photos. I'd want more than a swap - refund and replace? Or some compensation for the assembly / disassembly time.

Coat all joints liberally in Vaseline and use a tent peg extractor to put springs on are my top tips for next one (have helped assemble lots now!).

lougle · 25/05/2014 07:53

Did you follow the instructions religiously? The spring order is vital, as other posters have said. Is it a bolt together frame, or is it a tension frame? We have a Plum trampoline which is held together by the tension from the springs. We've sunken it into the ground and it fares extremely well in all weathers.

GloryHunter · 25/05/2014 08:40

Thank you for all the replies.

DH fitted the springs in the correct order, then took them all off and did it again.

I will call Argos on Tuesday.

we have found that they do warp but then once you start bouncing they go flat again

GloryHunter · 25/05/2014 15:44

It's more or less sorted itself out overnight. I did call Argos though who were very helpful and offered to swap it for another one or give me a full refund.
