because, all thing considered, they are excellent people with good manners (allowing for hormones) and I love them to bits

and I wish there were more positive stories about lovely teenagers in the news so they felt less like freaks

YANBU, and I feel the same :)

I am always hugging and kissing my lovely grown ups. I am so proud of them.

Molotov · 24/05/2014 21:54

YA definitely NU!! What a lovely thing to post :)

Go you!

fridayfreedom · 24/05/2014 21:55

Me too, love them to bits and we have such belly aching laughs together. Like big toddlers at times but really lovely people.

Although mine are 12 and 8 (9 in a week) the oldest is still very hug-able and lovely (90% of the time at least)

heraldgerald · 24/05/2014 21:59

So lovely to hear. As it should be!

morethanpotatoprints · 24/05/2014 22:01

Ah that's lovely, you sound a very proud mum.
YANBU I feel the same.
The cuddles stopped for a while when ours were lower teens but now my 22 year old and 19 year old come for a hug now, but as you would hug a parent as a grown up.
Dh and ds2 even had the manly hug and back pat the other night, for no particular reason apart from ds had been helping dh with decorating our lounge.

Montegomongoose · 24/05/2014 23:26

Absolutely NOT. Mine are delightful too. I can't believe how kind and funny and clever and sweet they are.

I had a properly shit time as a teenage and every time I see them randomly humming or smirking at something filthy I bet on Instaface I feel so happy inside.

Teens trump tinies. And tinies were pretty amazing.

lessonsintightropes · 24/05/2014 23:29

Awww YANBU! My DNephew and DNeice are a big part of my life and I've known them since they were tiny - they are now grown up people of 12 and 14. I've no kids of my own yet and love them dearly - they are such great kids. I don't insist on cuddles though as they are far too cool to do so unless they initiate Wink. Hate the fact we only hear about teenagers as problems in our society.

Gruntfuttock · 24/05/2014 23:29

My daughter is 23 and still lives at home. She's been in Rome for the last few days though and I'm looking forward to a big hug when she comes home on Tuesday. I think she's absolutely wonderful and I feel so lucky to have such an amazing daughter.

cardibach · 24/05/2014 23:33

YADNBU! Teens are ace. Ivor my own (DD 18) to bits but work with other people's (I'm a teacher) and most are absolutely great. I hate all the bad press they get.

cardibach · 24/05/2014 23:34

Ivor? I love! Stupid phone.

tammytwigg · 24/05/2014 23:35

Lovely post talking, just got back from a meal out with friends my ds15 theirs ds16 great company kept us amused all night x

BerryMojito · 24/05/2014 23:37

Sooo NU! Mine are 13, 17 & 19 and are just the best people I know. They often all materialise in my bed at bed time/in the morning for a chat/cuddles/to chill. I love the days when we all get to spend time together.

WorraLiberty · 24/05/2014 23:39

YANBU at all

I have a 15yr old (next week) DS who never ceases to amaze me at how polite, school focused and helpful he is.

His 22yr old brother however, was a total fucker at that age...although he's grown into a lovely hard working young man now. He's also step dad (and has been for 4 years) to his girlfriend's 5yr old DD and is a far better dad than his own (biological) dad ever was.

My 11yr old DS is a mixture of the two, so watch this space! Hmm Grin

bruffin · 24/05/2014 23:41

Ds 18 and Dd 16, lots of hugs in our house. In fact dd is much more huggable than when she was a baby.

Stripytop · 24/05/2014 23:50

talkinpeace what a lovely post! My dc's are 10 and 8 and I can't imagine not hugging them every day. A friend recently said she has not hugged her son for 2 yrs, he's 14. That made me feel so sad thinking one day that might be me, but you've given me hope that I can maintain the lovely relationships I have with them now.

50KnockingonabiT · 24/05/2014 23:50

YANBU in the slightest.

Mine are now both twenty something and only here for short visits, I get as many hugs in as I can:)

popcornpaws · 24/05/2014 23:55

YANBU

My dd is 17 and comes into our bed every night for a chat and a back tickle, she is off to uni in September and has decided to live in, which on one hand i think is great as its a new chapter in her life, but the thought of no more hugs on a daily basis makes me sad.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 25/05/2014 00:08

Ah lovely!! So I hope you do ,..

HecatePropylaea · 25/05/2014 00:10

Oh yes, I grab mine several times a day.
they love cuddles, regardless their protestations Grin

They're fab!

Theas18 · 25/05/2014 00:14
