to think this is really unprofessional?

Had my hair cut today and had already agreed on a price when booking (I'd walked in to make the appointment so they could see for themselves what my hair was like). They rang this morning to confirm appointment and again told me the price.

When I got there I was told it was going to be £5 more because they'd made a mistake. Not a lot of money but still.

She didn't brush my hair and when started dying it so it hurt so much when she started separating it. I was then asked to move seats half way through.

Whilst doing my hair there were massive blobs of dye on my face and she gave me a clean (but very used) towel and some liquid to remove it - it is still there on my face and my parting looks bad as its covered in dye.

She took quite a few phone calls too whilst in the middle of doing my hair.

She was friendly and I was pleased with the cut, but aibu in thinking this was really unprofessional?

I don't believe there can possibly be any dispute that what you describe here represents appalling service. Vote with your feet.

didn't you say anything at the time? Never mind £5 extra, I'd have wanted a discount on the colour!

Agree with trillions' 3 points Wink

Just wondering why you didn't say anything at the time too? Do not go back.

Why is it so hard to say anything at the hairdressers? I'm in the smile and nod camp too, then walk out cross a) with my rubbish hair cut and b) with myself for not saying, actually that hurt a bit and my hair looks crap

I wouldn't tip her, that's for sure. She got hair dye on your skin? You're lucky it was light dye that didn't leave a stain. Unless it wasn't.

Personally, I don't like "friendly" hair stylists. I'd rather just get a haircut where the stylist concentrates on my hair, not small talk that makes me cringe. I had one stylist I loved, was quiet and gave fantastic hair cuts every time. :)

I'm not sure if I would say anything either while my hair is in her hands. I'd be afraid of her not putting effort into my hair after I got upset because she was obviously not getting a tip.

I hope you didn't leave a tip. I would not have gone ahead when they said it would be £5 extra then they would have had to do it for the quoted price or wasted the slot.

Write a letter to them stating your points and that you were unhappy. They can either choose to make it up to you or you don't go back and bad mouth discourage anyone else from doing likewise.

I once had a cut and colour I was unhappy with. My only stipulation was that the grey must not show and it did. It was at my regular hairdressers but not my usual stylist. I phoned and told them I wasn't happy and they redid it free of charge. I felt a bit awkward for a while but it was fine. Otherwise they would have lost a customer.
