In Boots today, 5 staff are behind the pharmacy counter and one staff memebr is trying to serve a queue of about 12 people. The rest appear to be stock-taking.

ASDA may be cheap, but their reliance on ever more self scan tills and never staffing the tills at the far end of the shop makes Tesco's really appealing.

Especially my local small Tesco's who pack for you, really nicely and never look Hmm at keeping fridge and non frige separate.

I've seen terrible staff and terrible customers in all kinds of stores and across different industries (service, finance, groceries etc etc). The only thing that all had in common was a lack of respect for other people.

Both groups are people and as such you will always get those that go out of their way to help just because they can and those who go out of their way to be unpleasant just because they can.

People assume that only people on the tills are serving customers. When I go into Superdrug the queues are short and the shelves are empty. I'd rather be able to get what I went in for and have to wait a bit. And anybody who 'used to work in retail' has no idea. The shop I work in is running on about a quarter of the staff hours it had 5 years ago.
