To not want charities ringing my doorbell at half 8 in the evening?

2 year old DS goes to bed at 7. He's been playing up a bit tonight but finally went to sleep when someone rang my doorbell and woke him up. It was someone from some kind of charity.

I told him it was too late to be ringing doorbells, that I had a young child that he'd woken up. He replied 'really? It's only around 8'.

I don't want people selling/promoting charities to ring my doorbell at any time tbh because I think it's annoying and I choose the charities I donate to with personal consideration. But I just think anything after 7 when people are eating/putting kids to bed/settling down for the evening is out of order.

Aibu?

(Second aibu tonight. Clearly on a roll)

Yanbu, I have had the same at gone 9 at night. Really loud knocking on the door (no doorbell) & when I have said kids are in bed just got a shrug in response Shock

Yanbu, I have had the same, 8.45, some arrogant prick in a suit trying to sell me a broadband deal. He was extremely rude when I pointed out how late it was, so I slammed the door in his face.

Not a fan of charities door knocking anyway. It makes me feel obliged to contribute 'oh, it's only £x per month', bugger off, go away, let us choose where we contribute and stop coming to our doors, trying to deliver guilt if we don't open our purses. Angry

It's like they almost don't want you to buy/donate by disturbing you in the evening and being cheeky! Grr

Still trying to convince DS it is still night time and he needs to go back to sleep Angry

YANBU. I can't stand door to door sales, charities, awareness etc etc.
Lots of people feel sorry for them because they get a lot of verbal abuse but if you want a quiet life, don't go disturbing people in their homes!!!

It's incredibly rude and invasive and I can't see how it can be that lucrative either.

Get a sticker. I've got a sticker on the inside glass telling everyone to f* off.
Not really. It says something like we don't buy or donate on our doorstep so please bugger off (again not really). Councils usually have a stash of them for the elderly or permanently grumpy types like me.

I had one last night at 8pm, she knocked very loudly on my door waking dd2 who hadn't long been asleep up. To add to my annoyance as I was just about to open the door I heard her say "oh come on ffs open the fucking door". I don't think she will be coming back again!

LumionaMoonsplash · 22/05/2014 21:47

YADNBU I have an official looking sign on the door that makes em fuck off because I cannot be arsed debating with them any more.
