Its 3 o clock in the morning. Hes been sick in his bed, its down the wall, on the carpet. He's still being sick now (in the toilet now though)

His bedding was covered, I cannot physically clean it without gagging and retching. Aibu to just throw it out? Ds is moaning cause its his favourite one :(

Can't you just stick it all straight in the washing machine?

vvviola · 22/05/2014 03:18

Throw the whole lot in the shower & hose it down with the shower head until it isn't so horrendous.

At that stage - because we have two showers - I then leave it until the morning and make the bed up with fresh bedding. In the morning it and the second set of bedding which usually is in the same state by morning is a lot easier to deal with than in the middle of the night (and you can give it a second hose down in the morning too)

MrsCakesPremonition · 22/05/2014 03:21

Don't just put it in the washing machine. You'll end up with a machine full of clean vomit lumps.

Rinse in the bath or shower and then wash. It will be fine.

VestaCurry · 22/05/2014 03:22

I did this once during a d&v week from hell where we all had it. I vomited on top of the vomit ds2 had created and decided 'fuck it'. In the bin it went. Was too ill to consider anything else!

crypticbow08 · 22/05/2014 03:25

It can't go straight in the washer cause its all lumpy and bitty (bleurgh)

I tried showering it down, but there is just that much of it, its not coming off, and the it smells horrendous, which is making me retch. And during ds is still being sick bless him, and wants me next to him.

I know the feeling! Vomit just makes me want to vomit! If its their fave bedding if its not expensive could you not throw it away and replace it at a later date? That way no cleaning it and no unhappy kids :)

Writerwannabe83 · 22/05/2014 03:34

I would absolutely throw it away - no question!!!

I cannot stand sick!!!

Lumineer · 22/05/2014 03:37

I tend to bin excessive vomitty things and all pooey stuff (once they are past baby stage).

But just put it outside for now. Worry about it in the morning.

BernardlookImaprostituterobotf · 22/05/2014 03:38

Can you replace it? That might reassure him or the promise of getting to choose some new favourite bedding might make the night a bit easier.

If it's just too much to deal with, don't, it's more important you are robust enough to deal with the rest of the bug experience. Sheets are not that important and if binning them means you can sort out your Ds and not be sick too, so be it. It's not like you have a sheet wasting habit.

I've thrown sheets in the garden before to deal with in the morning because just...no. I would have thrown them away if they were the tiniest bit worse and done it without guilt.

Hope your poor little lamb feels much better soon.

crypticbow08 · 22/05/2014 03:40

I have promised him he can pick a new one once he is better and we can go into town. He seems happier now. I did offer this nearly an hour ago, its a better idea now it seems!

Do what I did, throw it in the garden, hose it off with the garden hose then into the washer.

If you don't have a garden or a garden hose, I'd throw it out & promise DS that I'll buy him new bedding in whatever it is he fancies.

I really hate vomit.

crypticbow08 · 22/05/2014 03:49

Its gone!!!! Now, to hope the damn smell clears soon. House smells vile :( I hate hate hate sick!

Bin it. Life's too short.

LibraryMum8 · 22/05/2014 05:19

Chuck it would be my vote too!

chocolatemademefat · 22/05/2014 09:07

Hose it down in the shower if you love the smell of sick. Then you have the pleasure of getting all the lumps out of the plug hole.
My son was an avid vomitter and I learned to buy cheaper sheets and duvet covers for him and throw them out. (wrapped in a refuse sack or you won't be able to use your bucket again!)
