I worked somewhere where I had to ring up a mr Cockburn, I said to my supervisor "shall I ring this mr Cockburn then" or something to that effect. He said it's pronounced co-burn!!

I felt grateful he told me the correct way to pronounce it, I'm not sure id have been so kind if the roles were reversed.

Someone I know used to know a Mr Glasscock.

As we remarked from time to time - you'd see him coming.

NigellasDealer · 20/05/2014 13:39

Makes me laugh when people have common names like tv's mrs bucket but pronounced bouquet.

I heard of a man mr onions, but it was pronounced o-ny-ons.

I have a friend who is due to marry a mr pratt, I know it's childish to have a little laugh at that but I would just get sick of the sniggering if I have a slightly funny name

JessePinkmansHoody · 20/05/2014 13:49

On my word! My device appears to be malfunctioning!!! Shock

I remember taking a chap's order once and he wrote down his name, Mr Fallick. It was only when I had to call it across a crowded restaurant that I realised how it sounded.

Berryglitter · 20/05/2014 13:56

I used to work for a Mr Battlecock.

GrammarGroans · 20/05/2014 13:59

A colleague in a school I taught in was Miss Slocock Smile

JessePinkmansHoody · 20/05/2014 14:00

In my company there is a man whose surname is "Backholer" - I kid you not.

forago · 20/05/2014 14:03

I am so juvenile with rude names, love them, only yesterday I received an email from a Mr McAnally.

My all time fave was Mustafa koq - Turkish millionaire.

squoosh · 20/05/2014 14:04

Backholer! Shock Grin

elQuintoConyo · 20/05/2014 14:05

A friend's DF had a workmate from USA come over called "Richard Gooley - but everyone calls me Dick" Grin bless him!

My DSis briefly dated a boy called S t u a r t Stott who had a stutter. They had one date.

I once taught an Italian girl called, unfortunately, Monica Sixfingers (seidite, excuse terrible spelling!).

squoosh · 20/05/2014 14:05

'only yesterday I received an email from a Mr McAnally.'

I know a few people with this name and never thought anything of it!
