To not let DS (5) have any cake?

DS (5) has been terribly behaved this weekend. He is a handful at the best of times and I work hard at keeping a lid on it, but this week he has pushed me beyond my limits. I banned TV, tablet and treats all week.

DH's birthday today, I feel like not letting him have any, but then feel really harsh. I would not usually associate food with punishment, but he was just so awful and I had said it before I thought it through. He has been answering back, hitting, shouting, kicking - honestly ashamed of how bad he has been.

He is not well at the moment and I do think the increased asthma meds may have added to his fury.

I can feel a flaming coming on...........cake or no cake?

Yep, will let him earn back some treats. Having a Brew and hoping the tantruming toddler naps for a bit longer, DS2 (2) has hit the terrible 2's as well.

Cake back, opportunity to earn back his tablet and tv for good behavior and an all round better afternoon.

Thanks all for supporting my wobble. Over tired, stressed mother!

Poor wee thing! I'm glad he got cake!

I'm on a high dose of steroids at the moment and I'm definitely feeling the 'roid rage' side affect. I'm 30 and I understand why I have a very short fuse and I'm probably insufferable to live with at the moment, I would imagine all these feelings will be very confusing to him at his young age. It is such a nasty side affect and it is so hard for someone who has never had the pleasure of having to take steroids to understand. Hope you manage to find a happy medium and of course hope he gets better soon!

Thanks ILoveFrogs, do feel bad, but he did push me to the edge of reason! I do feel for him. He enjoyed the cake
