To think that even if you are not in the quiet carriage, you should still wear headphones!

Some arse on the train tonight was watching The Simpsons on a laptop, with the sound on. AIBU to think this is a) odd, b) unnecessary and c) fucking irritating? If everyone did this it would be bedlam.

YANBU. It's one of my pet hates. Along with people who think that everyone on the bus/metro/train wants to listen to their shitty music blaring though the speakers on their equally shitty mobile/mp3. Headphones were invented for a reason - fucking use them!!!

I feel that way about our terrace house gardens. Luckily everyone on my row is considerate, but every so often I'll walk by a row of terraces with one douchebag out in his garden with the radio blaring.

Why didn't you ask them to put headphones on? I occasionally ask people on the train if they would mind turning music down if it's leaking from headphones and people are usually very polite about it.

I was only on for one stop so left it. But fucking annoyed...

I saw this on a train once. Young lass got out her laptop and proceeded to indulge us all with Jason Statham's latest explosion-fest. At full volume. Many 'just what the fuck do you think you are doing you foul denizen of the seventh circle?' glares were given until she finally got the hint and got her headphones out.

I was most stunned by the fact that she actually had headphones in her bag, but thought that the entire carriage wanted to hear "yeah mate, yuuuur, gi'me the caaaash' BANG BANG EXPLOSION BOOM BANG*!" at what seemed like 133 decibels. On piss poor laptop speakers.

*There was probably some 'VROOM VROOM' as well. As befits Statham.

YADNBU. I've never managed to work out why people think this is appropriate behaviour...

I sometimes decide to see if my music can be louder than theirs

It normally works and they turn off so I do
