A dominoes 12" pizza is now an 11" pizza

Some 20 packets of cigarettes now only have 19 cigarettes

Mars Bars have shrunk

And Coronation Street used to give you about 27 mins of actual programme. Tonight the advert break started at 7.37pm...7 mins after the actual progamme started!

I want my money's worth and think we are getting conned on a grand scale

Stop pretending you are giving value for money by shrinking everything and think we will not notice.

My question is, what would you prefer a shrinking product with a small increase in price or the actual thing you are used to with a slightly higher price increase?

We have loads of old tins from celebrations / miniature heroes / roses etc and they used to be 1.5kg and now they're about 800g! Shock

The advert in Tescos said "Happiness in a new sized bottle". I pointed out to the bemused sales person sticking that to the floor, that I certainly don't think happiness when the bottle is smaller. I suggested they saved that advert for enlarging the bottles.

AgaPanthers · 19/05/2014 14:47

They halved the size of deodorant bottles, but kept the price the same.

Darkesteyes · 19/05/2014 17:05

They've also shrunk boxes of Daz washing powder. Me and DM were having a moan about this on Saturday. She must have changed her brand She used Ariel when I was still living at home.

Everythings I have an old Roses tin from the 90s on a top shelf at the back of a cupboard. its MASSIVE

Darkesteyes · 19/05/2014 17:06

And the new size deodorant doesn't last for the same amount of time like they claim.

Darkesteyes · 19/05/2014 17:16

The Roses tin in this link is now considered to be a special size but I remember when it was the standard size you got in the 80s and 90s.
My mum used to buy the jar rather than the tin.

This annoys me every time I go to the shops. Wipes were 72 in a pack when I had DS1, 64 by the time DS2 was born, and now Pampers, Huggies etc wipes only have 56 in a pack, AND the price has gone up...

Don't even get me started on chocolate Angry

SarcyMare · 19/05/2014 17:21

darkestEyes i still have my glass roses jar, i use if for porridge oats, was marvelling how big it was, and how useful when i had to wash it last week.

Darkesteyes · 19/05/2014 17:34

YY Sarcy they were HUGE I couldn't pick one up as a kid.

Darkesteyes · 19/05/2014 17:40

DH has just reminded me that we have one of those jars too. Several years ago the jars changed from glass to plastic. But thinking about it I haven't seen jars at all for the last 3 or 4 Christmases so they may have been phased out.

Darkesteyes · 19/05/2014 17:43

In the mid 80s me and DB developed a knack of opening and closing the lid on a Roses jar without tearing the seal. So we could nick the odd purple one or caramel keg out of it before Christmas Blush

starlight1234 · 19/05/2014 17:45

I bought DS a pack of wagon wheels the other day..not bought any for years. They were the same size as normal biscuits.Shock

rookiemater · 19/05/2014 17:54

Sadly I'm not getting smaller over the years - quite the opposite.

Glad Wagon wheels are though - only biscuit I (as a fairly greedy child) actively hated. Weirdy synthetic taste, yuk.

Kerberos · 19/05/2014 18:20

Do you think the cigarettes are also getting shorter as well as having fewer of them in the pack?

BalloonSlayer · 19/05/2014 18:24

Wasn't the whole reason wagon wheels were called that because they were so big, as big as, well y'know ?

Confused
YoureBeingASillyBilly · 19/05/2014 18:27

Anybody else desperately want crisps and chocolate now?

Grin
BrokenToeOuch · 19/05/2014 18:47

Kerberos I definitely getting smaller. I was holding the box in my hand recently and it felt odd. It finally dawned one that it's bloody smaller Angry
