My friends son is about to turn 6 in a few weeks time and for the first time ever I and my other half have been invited to his birthday which is for 'friends and family'. We've never been invited before and i know there has been a party each year. Is she just short on numbers or is the fact that I'm now pregnant the reason did her inviting me out the blue?

Maybe your friendship has got stronger over the last year?

Maybe they can afford to have more people this year?

You're over thinking it! Just go and have a nice time if you'd like to, or politely decline if not.

I'd think you have become better friends over the past year. I don't think many people try & make up numbers for a family & friends party.

I agree you are probably over thinking it but did you ever think your friend thought- what would someone without kids want to go to a child's birthday party for?
Perhaps now she is thinking, well obviously you are about to become a parent, that kind of indicates you like kids and might perhaps enjoy getting invited into 'the fold'.
I don't know. I invite close friends without kids to DD's birthday but only if I know they have a special relationship with her. Otherwise I would think they would be bored!

Yeh I did wonder that Nunyabiz and that would make sense and I can see why someone would do that..
