The longer it if before he comes out and apologises and pays back what he owes, the more people aresed going to dislike him. That is at least what Jimmy Carr/Chris Moyles did. Love the difference between Camerons position on Carr and Barlow doing the same thing. The justification that Barlow does a lot for charity, so he can keep his gong, WTF ! We would need less charity in the world, if rich bastards paid correct tax.

meran · 13/05/2014 07:54

He probably raised less for charity than he avoided in tax!!

ssd · 13/05/2014 07:56

seeing the difference between how Jimmy Carr was treated and Gary Barlow actually made me have a nanosecond of sympathy with Carr

but dont worry its gone now Grin

ohmymimi · 13/05/2014 08:46

I know what you mean, owl, I always expect the sleb Tories to be in the mould of Jim Davison or Freddie Starr.

Stripyhoglets · 13/05/2014 09:29

He appeared in a party political broadcast for the Tories the year they got into power. I used to think he was cute - since I saw that all feelings I had evaporated and now I can't stand his smugness

ComposHat · 13/05/2014 11:51

But he is precisely that sort of middle of the road/ light entertainment 'personality' that usually endorses the Tories. Barlow rightly belongs somewhere in the cocktail lounge of a cross channel ferry or the chicken in a basket circuit playing provincial theatres, playing cover versions of Billy Joel, Barry Mannilow and the least interesting bits of Elton John's back catalogue. . He is in no way edgy or cool, he is just a generation younger thab most Tory celebrity supporters.
Other Tory endorsers include:

Cilla Black, Ken Dodd, Paul Daniels,Anneka Rice and Chris Rea. Which sounds like the lineup from a particularly uninspiring edition of Wogan circa 1987.

TheCunkOfPhilomena · 13/05/2014 12:22

Compo, I think I love you Grin

ComposHat · 13/05/2014 12:59

Cheers, the fact you've referenced screenwipe reference in your user name cunk makes it mean all the more!

Gingermum · 13/05/2014 13:15

I'm not keen on Gary Barlow and the old 'I leave everything to my accountant' cobblers doesn't wash, but by ganging up on individuals we are overlooking the fact that giant corporations are also mahoosive tax avoiders to the tune of billions per year. Starbucks profits have been seriously damaged by people boycotting them, so if we were to do the same for Google, Amazon and Topshop it would soon kick them where it hurts.

WhereDoAllTheCalculatorsGo · 13/05/2014 13:20

Lots of people are Tories, to be fair. On balance I'd rather than than BNP or UKIP.
