Bastards are eating my wardrobe alive. Tried moth balls and lavender.

The latest thing I've heard of are Carpet Moths, they breed in the bits of carpet that are hard to vacuum and especially behind bookcases etc. I have wooden floors mainly, but I do worry about the one carpet we haven't removed.

We had a proper infestation of them at a rented house a few years back, caused by my previous flatmate and her knitwear/yarn collection - the bloody moths moved house with me in my rolled-up unused sheepskin rug! Unrolled it and it disintegrated, moth and larvae casings everywhere. Yuck yuck yuck.

I vacuumed every last inch (remember to replace the Hoover bag!), washed whatever I could, bought those hanging pheromone things, cedar rings for clothes hangers, and made sure there was no nice dark space for them to lay eggs in - changed the curtains to white muslin panels so there was lots of light coming in, and turned the heating off where possible to discourage them.
The bastards eat keratin, ie nails and hair type stuff, so you have to make sure anything you store is properly clean.
More regular vacuuming, lots of airing the rooms, regularly replacing the cedar/lavender things etc, and they were gone after about a year.
Not a quick fix, but it did eventually work. Been in our new house three years and haven't had a problem yet, but am hyper vigilant as I really don't want to go thru that again!

I am ripping the bedroom carpets out and spraying the nice wool stair carpet with the Lakeland spray. I relax, then see moths again....I'm getting obsessed with them! Where can I get the pheromone traps?

Pheromone traps are on ebay and Amazon. They come as a plastic holder with a small handful of refills and then you can buy the refills in packs separately.
