I have 2 other threads on this which outlines the whole rigmarole but basically Friday was spent going from a&e to the doctors to be send to another a&e to be sent home with no concerns.
All comes from a bump on my sons head which is still there 6 weeks later along with him having a history of a haemorrage as a baby where he had to have a craniomoty so combined with this lump and then a few indents I found and no docs appts I went to a&e.
Anyway, discussing this with my friend last night who asked if they asked me to remove his clothes at a&e - they did at both hospitals.
The first hospital asked me to strip him completely felt around his stomach checked his movement of arms and legs etc, the second hospital did the same but didn't ask me to remove his underwear.
Friend said that they did this when her son had an accident at home ( he had fallen into their coffee table and head needing gluing ) but apparently they told her they check for abuse signs especially in head injuries / injuries in the home.
This has made me quite sad that they might have thought that but also annoyed as the way she said it was almost like she wanted me to worry and be concerned someone might come out to us as she had a health visitor call her after offering a safety in the home check

I hope you weren't upset with my comment btw because I can see why up you are worried, given his history, just sometimes we can lose perspective and not see the wood for the trees. I have anxiety and can get quite fixated on one thing, even though - like your situation - there is usually a valid reason to be anxious, I always seem to go one step further . It's not a good way to live.

Be kind to yourself Flowers

I still have a bump on my head from falling over when I was 4. It doesn't hurt at all but it's still there 30 or so years later!

When DS bumped his head as a baby I was called a few days later by the health visitor. She was only doing her job but it really upset me as I felt bad enough that he had bumped his head in the first place.

Tieni,
Is this on your forehead? As his isn't but I've read a lot of " I still have a bump on my forehead years later "

Candy,
Absolutely not offended at all.
Thankyou for your kind words and bit of perspective.
I hope that nothing comes of the blood results and the bump does go away however I don't really care about the bump itself as long as he's ok :)

Yes bump is on my forehead (but to one side so it's not noticeable).

I hope your Ds is ok - genuinely op. I wonder though why you are posting about this latest issue ?
I think it's concerning that you keep making new threads , perhaps you are lonely ? Is your dp supportive ?

Yep baby DS fell off the bed and bumped his head..they were quite discreet with the all over check along the lines of ...ooh lets just listen to his heart, feel his tummy.

My Dad was holding him at the time and both he and my Mum commented that they were having a look for more injuries

Waltonwatcher,
My husband is very supportive but thinks im over thinking about everything including the bump and doesn't think it's related to the surgery he had as a baby so sometimes I try to get an outsiders opinion as family tend to sugar coat things in general don't they?

Agree there !
Family are awful for ' he's fine, its nothing , look he's playing normally' - whilst the child in question is dragging a broken leg, has a temp of 41 and is throwing up into their dinner !
I get your point now!

Mixedupmind · 12/05/2014 20:51

Yes this is exactly what I mean :)
I just wish I'd taken him to the doctors straight away now and not waited for the bump to go down and I wish I hadnt got to a&e where I now have bloods there when another a&e have told me he doesn't need them
