To think 2am is the perfect time to chase pieces of cardboard round the living room and stalk the giant sleeping beast that could swallow you whole?

Or does my kitten need a time out? Hmm

The dog has offered no support on this issue.

Ahhh, the famous 'mad half hour.'

Both our cats had this when they were teeny. Similar time every day, they'd be bouncing off the walls like wild things. One had a bit of a foot fetish and would come after you to bite your toes or wake you up by murdering your ankles whilst you slept the terrible beast that keeps moving under the bedding.

Be more grateful, that cardboard could be lethal if your kitten doesn't show it who's boss.

The cardboard has been well and truly put in it's place. My pyjama bottoms are now being tortured into submission Hmm

He is 9 weeks old. How long does this last?

Awwww!

He has conquered the sleeping beast and set up camp on top of him Grin

At the time, you hope that this is the last one. In a few years when your kitty is SO much more mature, and if like one of mine looks at cat toys as if they are torture devices.

Luckily, the other one is as daft as a brush!!!

catsofa · 10/05/2014 02:43

I have consulted my cat, she says she dealt with the cardboard in this house earlier this evening, but might have another go in a bit just to be sure it is really dead.

Sleeping beast (me) is not yet trying to sleep, but when it does she will demand cuddles and punch it in the head for as long as possible.

She is 15 years old, still a complete fruitcake, it never really stops.

Your kitty sounds wonderful. Has it got a name ?

ElleMcFearsome · 10/05/2014 06:59

That picture has really made me smile! What a good natured sleeping beast you have Smile

AwkwardSquad · 10/05/2014 07:03

Mine generally chooses 5am to beat the laundry bag into submission then tackle the evil demon that follows her everywhere (her tail). She's about five years old.

Your photo is very cute Smile

I miss having a cat.

Ours eventually became a demure young lady, with a taste for music. But only solo performances. If we left the piano keyboard lid up at night she would walk up and down the keyboard making spooky music.

HighwayDragon · 10/05/2014 08:28

kitty is 2 and likes to hit us in the face at 2 am, claws out. It hurts.

AbbeyBartlet · 10/05/2014 08:36

Totally reasonable and shows that the kitten is sacrificing his own sleep to protect the household! A little chicken or fish will show your appreciation! Grin

splendide · 10/05/2014 08:36

Mines 3 now and still does this! She also does a good line in making "murderers breaking in" style noises to frighten me. Quite a nice eyelid licking technique as well - when she wants me awake.

AwkwardSquad · 10/05/2014 09:16

Mine sits on the edge of the bed and does heavy breathing about 1cm from my face. Sometimes she likes to mix things up a bit and sits on my head.

AbbeyBartlet · 10/05/2014 09:25

And I love your pic! Fair play to the dog for not getting

deakymom · 10/05/2014 09:26

on a slightly more practical note get a small treat ball you can get them for dogs and a small one does for cats i used to be able to direct my cat towards this and away from my feet xx

AbbeyBartlet · 10/05/2014 09:26

Not getting involved in the chaos but he obviously makes a lovely comfy sleeping place!

Now this is why I miss cats! The daft things they do.

I came downstairs early once - must have been cos I wanted a cuppa or something. As I approached the breakfast room, I heard this weird machine like noise. I was wondering who the f* was operating machinery at that time in the morning but apparently it was out cat growling at the window where another cat could be seen outside on the window ledge. Amazing how brave kats can be when there is glass between them eh? Mind you , our s was a stray from a colony of cats and a street fighter!

She used to make that chattering noise when looking at birds too. We used to call it "that nyang nyang noise". That is what it sounded like.

They didn't use to distub us much at night, but used to give us dirty looks if we rolled in late, or entered the kitchen before a suitable time.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 10/05/2014 10:55

"Your kitty sounds wonderful. Has it got a name ?"

He's called Sheldon Grin

Sleeping beast is the most lazy gentle giant a kitten could hope to meet. He will move only for food. Which thankfully he doesnt consider the kitten to be.

My old cat (sadly departed) used to do relay races up and down the stairs at night.

I don't see a problem. Somebody has to take care of the cardboard or it rapidly gets out of control. The kitten is performing his duties superbly - keep it up, young man.

My cat used to do that. That was what he sounded like too. If you looked from the side his lips would quiver.

We called it bird charming. It never worked though - they weren't charmed, they'd line up out of reach and shriek at him.
