to think free/cheap bus travel should be provided for everyone that doesn't have car insurance

Cars are one of the biggest pollutants. Yet I would rather get the bus but it doesn't work out any cheaper than the car so I drive. People that get the bus are also fitter as they walk more.

My parents get free bus passes, but this doesn't stop them driving that much and still both have a car.

Buses are empty, cars are clogging up the roads and air pollution is above who guideline levels in many cities in the UK.

AspiringHuman you are driving people fucking demented with your pathological self pity. It's so extreme it's like a form of torture for you and torture for the reader. Please, get help, or at least keep it on one thread. The sound of collective sinking of hearts when yet another of your completely unconnected and unprovoked drop kicks to the soul turns up is actually palpable.

I use buses and taxi's because I don't drive, it's so expensive.

I think if people without car insurance get a free bus pass, people who don't have a car should - but then who funds buses? It's not practical.

and all buses in my area are always full.

Aspiringhuman · 08/05/2014 17:43

Don't fucking read them then. Also I'm aware of the low opinion you hold of me so there's no need to exert yourself to remind me.

Just a few points I mentioned decent human being only in response to your post I'll take note and remember to ignore you in future. I have at no point transplant, dialysis or similar. Also I'm not a troll and it's nasty of you to suggest I am one.

why shouldn't I post on a public forum? Why do I have less right to post than any one else? I know nobody gives a shit, do you really think I'm so thick I haven't noticed? Perhaps I need to let off steam rather than constantly bottling things up, perhaps I want some contact with the outside World.

So let's make it clear I'll SHUT THE FUCK UP when I want to SHUT THE FUCK UP not when you FUCKING WELL TELL ME. You may be a better person than me but you don't own me.

Oh lawks...

But AH - you sound really unwell. The view that you have of yourself and your life is not NORMAL. We have told you for years to step away from MN and get some proper help. Some of your posts totally stretch credibility - stuff that has happened to you is so completely UNLIKELY it is not surprising people think you are trolling. It's not a couple of posts either - I know some people get a lot of shit - it is EVERY SINGLE post. You take other people's comments as a personal slight to you when that was never the intention (frozen brocolli) springs to mind. you need HELP!

BOFster · 08/05/2014 18:33

Aspiring- it's brilliant to see you with a bit of fire in your belly! I think the online/offline thing is really interesting: when you feel criticised in real life, you often report that you feel ashamed and apologetic, yet on here now, you don't seem like a shrinking violet. You sound really angry, rather than defeated and timid.

If you could use that assertive energy offline (ok, maybe a bit less aggressively) to demand proper treatment, you'd be well on your way. I bet that things would really turn around for you.

Aspiringhuman · 08/05/2014 18:36

People can't hit me online, they can in real life. I'm a coward.

PortofinoRevisited · 08/05/2014 18:40

Who is going to hit you? Your DH? That is a whole other issue. I know your last relationship was abusive. Is this one too? He sounds like a right tosser from what you have said about him.

The other people in your life aren't going to hit you. Not random people in the street, people at work etc.

I'm every bit as annoying in real life as I am on here, and nobody has battered me yet.

Do you need to contact Women's Aid? There are lots of useful numbers in Relationships and Mental Health if you need help, or you could start your own thread about living in fear of violence. It must be very draining.

Erroltheowl · 09/05/2014 15:40

I think that's a stupid idea IMO. Buses companies are privatised services out to make money and the reason buses are expensive is because the have 300ltr -700ltr fuel tanks that need filling each and everyday and bus company have their own private pump's in their depot yards to fill these tanks so it costs even more to the company to fuel the buses time efficiently and fast also the fares charged on buses also cover the damage caused by the general public ie litter, dirt, graffiti etc which is a never ending battle for the bus company and also the wages of the people driving these buses including my DH need's to paid on top of all this. if bus companies were free they would last all of 1/2 a day 1 day tops before they ran out of fuel, got damaged with no funds to repair them, got logged with passengers wanting a free ride and crushing each other to death ( i hear this situation is happening in london on a daily basis) But i supposed if they made buses free just for OP they could away run them on pixie dust and pay the drivers magic beans Wink think OP that is all.

Erroltheowl · 09/05/2014 15:42

Oh And also i do think buses should be re modelled i feel that able bodied passengers seem to have more seating that people with wheelchairs in the wheelchair bay. 2 wheelchair spaces and god knows how many (70) at a guess seats and TWO wheelchair spaces totally inadequate

AMumInScotland · 09/05/2014 16:02

You haven't given any evidence to support the idea that it is the cost of buses that stops people from using them. In fact, you pretty much prove the opposite by mentioning your parents not using them even though they have free passes.

I agree things could be done that would improve the use of buses in some areas, but the cost isn't the main problem for me at least. It's the lack of flexibility - they run every hour. If I miss one, that means a 55 minute wait for the next. During which time I could have driven home...
