To ask them to swap my coil again?

I went from an IUD to an IUS around a year ago, I'd only had the IUD in for around a year when the excessive bleeding became too much and they recommended the swap. Since having the IUS fitted I have gained around 2 stone which I cannot shift, my skin is terrible and I'm a moody horrible psychobitchfromhell type Blush

Would it be very unreasonable to ask them to switch me back to an IUD and just prescribe mefenamic acid and tranexamic acid from the start? I've given this coil a year but it really isn't suiting me.

I think it's reasonable, after a year, to ask to have the Mirena removed and go back to the IUD.

Bear in mind they might not be happy for you to have tranexamic acid long term, it affects clotting and isn't really 'designed' for long term constant use.

Of course you're not being unreasonable - if the IUS doesn't suit you, you shouldn't have to leave it in.

Is there anything else that would suit you isntead of a IUD to prevent the excessive bleeding?

I have tried the combined pill, depo injection and implanon-none of them seem to suit me-not sure what to do.

Patch? Nuvaring?

I have the none hormonal coil. Had the 10 year copper first and I had excessive bleeding and pain. They swapped it for the smaller copper 5 year coil. No pain of excessive bleeding and no hormonal craziness!!! I wish I knew what it was called to tell you!

YANBU. Ask them for the smaller copper t.
Your other choices will depend on your age/ age and number of children etc.
But no. YANBU to ask for a change.
Check out the "bastard Mirena" thread for further support.

Thank you all, will definitely ask about the smaller copper one-I don't react well to hormones at all so that I probably my best bet.

I had great results from endometrial ablation but it would only be suitable if you had completed your family.

I'm still relatively you do and am not quite ready to say never again yet.

The BASTARD thread is amazing! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
