At big elections each party gets freepost leaflets that they can send to everyone on the electoral register. In order to maximise their reach they tend to try to send a named leaflet to each person in a household (or to the first two). DH got his today - he is before me on the electoral register. All these worries about whether you've voted for them in the past - you do all know that it's a secret ballot in this country don't you? They don't know who you've voted for unless you wrote and told them.

Harpy is right - there will be a second mailing later in the campaign which will be addressed to the second named in the household, and it will be a different leaflet to this one. It's the way it is done by the three main parties in most national elections. If they send an unnamed mailing they can only hit a household once.

I got a BNP one. We've had UKIP, Labour, Tory all through the door, but the BNP actually had my name on it.
