To assume practically zero chance of pregnancy

So this is somewhat embarrassing for a grown woman (hence the NN change...)

We have just started TTC. Trying to take a fairly relaxed approach (although my starting this thread would perhaps suggest I'm lying to myself). Having some fun of the heavy petting variety one morning resulting in DH having what I'm going to call an 'external happy ending'. We cheerfully resolve to try a more targeted approach later on that day and with the full, laughing consent of all parties (I'm really not some crazed L Jones type) I shovel up what has landed on my arm and, well, stuff it up my wazoo. Every little helps, and all that.

Anyway, illness and work swiftly and unkindly intervene and that turns out to be my only close encounter of the sperm kind during my fertile window. Pretty sure I ovulated the following day.

So AIBU to assume we're out of the running, get seriously stuck into some cocktails at this party at the weekend and generally forget about it until next time? I should add, I'm really not getting my hopes up. I am well aware that plenty of women wait for months and years - I may even turn out to be one of them.

Or should I observe 2ww rules just in case? I would be a bit more abstemious if there was a genuine chance. Can anyone give me some odds? Or share your accidental conception stories for my amusement/unreasonable encouragement...

Go for it at the party, I started off not drinking in the 2ww but after a year of ttc I gave up that rule and I would test if my period was late and I was going to a party but if it was before my expected period date I just asumed I wasn't pregnant.

When I got pregnant with ds I had been enjoying lots of pre IVF nights out (I was told I had no chance of getting pregnant that month as I wouldn't ovulate) I did lots of frantic googling and everything I read said that before a missed period alcohol doesn't effect the embryo. I seem to remeber that the baby doesn't actually share a blood supply with the mother until 6ish weeks, I wouldn't drink if I had a bfp but before your period is due I think you're pretty safe.

Good luck! I really hope your pregnant just as it's such a great story ;)

Snort :D - Lie on the bed attempting to look alluring in a crotchless hazmat suit.
I'm sure there are specialist interest websites for this sort of thing...

I fell pregnant with withdrawal the one time we'd had sex !! So you never know :) (btw this was with my partner but were going through a VERY dry spell ,lol )

Dearj17 I like you....you make me chuckle Grin

I have given up giving up drink in the TWW. After 3 years I just can't be bothered any more.

Anyway, my friend got pg by accident in the circumstances you described, but without the shoving it up her fanjo bit.

Oh and come over to the TTCing threads. We can obsess and pretend that we aren't obsessing together.
