to wish my dh would stop posting half naked changing room selfies online

My dh works in the fitness industry. I don't mind that he went off for three hours to go to the gym while I went to family alone.

However he twittered a selfie picture of him, in a towl in the changing room on the account he uses for business.

Now somehow this is getting hundreds of retweets and his phone has been bleeping constantly for the last hour and hes grinning the cat that got the cream.

He says its to help business, but really its embrassing. Would be mortifed if my mum saw his twitter.

In this photo there are urinals in the background ffs!

YANBU-if he wants to promote business surely a colleague could take a shot of him in action (I mean running, lifting weights or similar) instead of half naked selfie. Very unprofessional I'd say, and can see why you're annoyed.

SirChenjin · 05/05/2014 22:10

Precisely Bedlam. Posting half naked photos of yourself in the mens' toilets is hardly creating a professional brand image unless working in the fitness industry is a euphemism for cottaging

" would be mortified if my mum saw his twitter" that's very funny, op:)

No, absolutely not weird for a gym bunny PT who prides himself on his physique ( and personality, obviously:) but if he's advertising his business why hide in the toilets? Unless its aimed at those city types who can't leave their office and waste time at the gym, and want to do press ups in the bogs instead.

Surely he should be leant up against a running machine?

I can see why you'd find it annoying, but on the other hand you say he works in the fitness industry.
Therefore, it stands to reason that he'd be promoting his business on social media. His body, by the sounds of it, is his business. (NOT meant in a sleazy way.)
If he's gaining followers and RT's as a result of the selfies, surely that's a good thing as it's beneficial to his business?

I have about 5 friends who are personal trainers. 3 are women, 2 men. None of them post anything like this on FB, and wouldn't dream of it I don't think. They would find it embarrassing. They promote their brand image by word of mouth, proper advertising, association with particular gym/s and by doing sport competitively and doing well.

If I saw a personal trainer posting selfies like that on FB, it would put me right off. I would think he wasn't serious about training people but just a rather narcisstic oddball.

Most of my friends have found it rather hard to make a regular living from personal training, and supplement it in some way, either by help from their partner or giving up mostly and getting a job in gym management or a proper coaching job.

I wouldn't choose to spend time with anyone who posts selfies for any reason. It's one of the reasons I'm not on FB.

I read an article yesterday about "posh" stylists who are "obliged" to post selfies of their outfits in the name of brand building. But they hate it. Hmm I don't think anyone ever has to post a selfie.
