To feed the cat over the road so i wont shit in my garden?

The gardner complained last week that he had to pick up cat poo from my garden.

He made it very clear that he doesnt like doing it and wont do it again.

I know exactly which cat it is as i ve seen it sniffing round my garden a number of times.

If i was to feed the cat, would it then not poo in the garden as they dont poo on their own territory?

Cats do shit in their own territory.

Mine loving doing it in my garden - little sods!!

MelonadeAgain · 06/05/2014 04:30

Ive always found this worked, but now in told it doesn't? I didn't feed the cats but simply petted them. I love cats and am always desperate for a bit of cat affection as i cant have one myself due to travelling too much. No shits in my gardens.

MelonadeAgain · 06/05/2014 04:33

And i couldn't be bothered dealing with a complaining gardner like that either. Surely a gardener is meant to decrease your own stress and hassle, not add to it?!

FindoGask · 06/05/2014 05:58

Our cat only craps in our own garden, so feeding this other cat is no guarantee that it will crap elsewhere. They are a law unto themselves.

Jengnr · 06/05/2014 06:00

Ask your neighbour to keep the cat indoors.

Sparklingbrook · 06/05/2014 06:11

would love to hear the neighbour's reply to that Jengnr. Grin

sashh · 06/05/2014 07:23

Im surprised your cat poos in your garden, i thought they never poo on their own territory?

Nope, they don't poo in another cat's territory. Have you heard of litter trays? Each and everyone is in a cat's own territory.

Booboostoo · 06/05/2014 07:30

Cats definitely poo in their territory.
Don't feed someone else's cat, it could be really bad for the cat and it's not very nice for the owners.

If the poo was on the lawn it most likely was fox poo. It stinks to high heaven which makes it quite distinctive (also dogs are fatally attracted to it and MUST roll in it - boak!). Your gardner is being very precious, how does he expect to work with the earth and avoid poo? What does he fertilise with, golden nuggets of angel clouds?

Sparklingbrook · 06/05/2014 07:31

perhaps you need to see his Gardening certificates Sofa. Grin

ask your neighbour to keep the car indoors

Okaaaay. I think your problem here is your soft twatty gardener op. Tell him to pull in his gloves and get in with the job or sack him and get another one.

Nohootingchickenssleeping · 06/05/2014 09:17

My neighbours have concreted their entire back garden. Guess where their cats now shit? Oh yes, in my veggie patch. My own cats have a litter box and don't spend much time outside (elderly) so it's a PITA having to deal with it. Watching this thread closely.

Lemongrab · 06/05/2014 09:49

Apparently a liberal sprinkling of cayenne chilli pepper on the ground where the little bastards darlings poop will deter them.
Planning to try this myself.

candycoatedwaterdrops · 06/05/2014 09:55

I think you need a new gardener.

PigletJohn · 06/05/2014 10:46

this works for foxes, have not tried it with cats:

many wild animals are scared of large male carnivores. If you can get a man to wee round your garden, especially the borders, gates and fences, it may discourage the cat. A sunday roast beforehand may add to the effectiveness. The scent of a sweaty mans vest may also be repellent.

Sparklingbrook · 06/05/2014 11:08

But probably best not to ask the Gardener to do it-he doesn't seem the type. Sad

ZingWatermelon · 06/05/2014 11:44

Grin Sparkling

imagine asking him to make a choice between picking up cat poo or pissing all over the garden?

PigletJohn

will children's pee effective?

PigletJohn · 06/05/2014 11:56

mature male carnivore needed, as a scary predator.

children are prey animals.

thebodylovesspring · 06/05/2014 12:15

Now thinking of sweaty post roast dinner men pissing over the gardens of Britain to repel cats.

Would rather have the cat shit.

OnTheBottomWithAWomansWeekly · 06/05/2014 12:20

I heard some lion/tiger poo can deter them (same theory as PigletJohn). Wonder if you can get any from the zoo? Am sure there's some on Ebay but you would never be sure what you are getting!

ZingWatermelon · 06/05/2014 12:45

thebody

I choose the sweaty piss.
hate cats, loathe cat poo.

you should start a thread about it!Wink

ZingWatermelon · 06/05/2014 12:47

Onthebottom

lion poo? but that's still cat poo! only more and stinkier!

it's like saying if you burnt your hand put it under some running hot water! Grin

matildasquared · 07/05/2014 17:20

You can get de-stinked lion poo at Morrisons.
