Just. Why? If you can't think of anything interesting to say, don't say anything at all.

OP posts:

The shipping forecast is always quite calming if you're feeling grumpy.

I think that all of Black Books is on 4OD.
I love the Shipping Forcast tea towels that John Lewis do.

SweetDreamz1 · 05/05/2014 10:28

Looks like OP has gone, maybe she is wittering onto somebody about something??? Wink

dottytablecloth · 05/05/2014 10:30

Maybe you are just very hard to make conversation with?

wowfudge · 05/05/2014 10:31

Maybe she's finally got off MN and is doing some bloody work. Providing of course the wittering around her has subsided.

Steff - I guessed you must be in the US. Is the storm over and is your pooch okay? Ours is deaf so he wouldn't have noticed. No wittering worries for him.

Flexiblefriend · 05/05/2014 10:36

Poor OP came onto MN to get away from people wittering about the weather, and here are you lot, wittering about the weather. No wonder she has gone! Grin

OP YABU. I love a good chat about the weather!

wowfudge · 05/05/2014 10:37

Exactly Flexible - she asked was SBU and the answer was yes! Can't expect everyone to agree with you.

Bowlersarm · 05/05/2014 10:39

How can you be so grumpy on such a lovely sunny day, OP? Grin

YABU

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 05/05/2014 10:55

Ooh it's gone cloudy now with a slight breeze.

Monmouth · 05/05/2014 10:56

Precious, love Black Books, great scene with France and shipping forecast.

Monmouth · 05/05/2014 10:56

Fran, not France.

TheHorseHasBolted · 05/05/2014 12:35

It bugs me a bit when people say "isn't the weather lovely/horrible" and expect you to agree with them, but I actually don't. I quite like rain, and although I don't mind warm weather, I don't enjoy really hot weather because I'm very fair-skinned. I hate feeling like I've either got to lie to agree with them or offend them by having a different point of view. I usually just mumble something that could be taken either way but I wish people wouldn't put me in that position, so I never bring up the weather myself unless it really affects something someone has to do.

ouryve · 05/05/2014 12:40

It's lovely laundry drying up here, in the NE. Mild and breezy. I'll probably care less about that if my dryer ever gets fixed. Though I am somewhat miffed that it looks like we'll have to walk to school in the pouring rain, next Thursday.

ouryve · 05/05/2014 12:41

I agree with TheHorse about warm weather, too - fair skinned and I take drugs that make me more sun sensitive than usual. I'd rather do the school walk in the pouring rain than the blistering sunshine because it hurts less.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 05/05/2014 13:03

Maybe you could say "Nice weather for ducks though" Horse or "My garden will appreciate it though" or "Actually I quite like being inside and listening to the rain on the roof" you could add "I'm strange like that" though I wouldn't think so as I feel the same.
I'm sure we don't all have to agree even if it can feel a bit like that sometimes. Sure you can disagree gently, with grace.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/05/2014 13:38

It is sunnier than I expected today. Thought there was going to be more infill before the front approaches. So it feels like a bonus day.

UncleT · 05/05/2014 13:41

It shapes people's plans and preparations, can profoundly influence many jobs and professions, dictates how we dress, and generally makes a big difference to our daily lives. And yet, somehow it's irrelevant and boring??

Fleta · 05/05/2014 14:28

If the issue was genuinely the interruptions, your thread would have been entitled "AIBU to keep getting interrupted at work".

But you lost the moral highground when you decided what YOU have to say is important....and professing to be interupted during your important MN session.

Weather is interesting, useful and shapes our lives.

When people in the uk are talking about the weather they aren't really talking about the weather - they are saying hello, I would quite like to to chat to you but I am a socially inept English (or other) person and this is our way of opening an conversation. Duh!! I thought everyone knew that.

ditavonteesed · 05/05/2014 18:51

bad bad kitten, whats it going to be like next weekend? Am having a party and cant fit everyone in the house so it really does need to be nice.

thebodylovesspring · 05/05/2014 18:56

Have find memories of dss friend aged 16 being stuck with me and dh your a few awkward minutes alone.

He said blushingly 'the weather doesn't know what to do with itself today does it'

Just about managed not to giggle bless.

Chill op.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/05/2014 19:12

Dita I think it might be worth borrowing a gazebo. The 3 main models have a really showery outlook through the weekend. Sorry.

ditavonteesed · 05/05/2014 19:13

thanks bad bad kitten, appreciate the heads up. Smile
