I have been doing the slim and save diet which is basically milk shakes, soups, etc. since October last year. I just got to target :) 10 stone, and I was 17 so pretty massive really!

But I am so sick of hearing people say oh you're going to put it all back in again now, even adding you do know that don't you Hmm then they say join slimming world or weight watchers or why don't you just exercise.

AIBU to think I'll do what suits me, and also that lots of diets result in people gaining weight they lost and it's what I do now that tells.

Thanks for your comments, Mary - "food for thought" Wink
(When I'm ready, I'll start a new thread on comfort eating)

I definitely recommend running as a great way to get fit and stay healthy.

if you increase your exercise regime with your food intake you should be fine.

Exercising is great when you are slim too, feels amazing

Can we check on you in 6 months to see how you did?

Perhaps there should be an ongoing thread for that.

I am nearly at my target, but am unsure how things are going to work out afterwards.

Congrats on weight loss OP, good for you. Weight seems to be treated in that 'visible' way pregnancy is - people feel they have a right to comment openly. Which would be fine if it was always positive..!

I don't have lots to lose tbh but I do have to watch my weight as I put on weight very, very easily. I use the Livestrong 'My Plate' calorie counter; Id always been against calorie counting but found it worked for me to have an online food diary and note down everything I eat. It also incorporates and Exercise tracker. I work out at home as am too lazy to get ready and go to the gym! I use a mini-trampoline which has worked wonders - if watching tv I can jump on it during all the ad breaks, if Im reading I take a break every 30 mins or so to jump. Ive seen a big difference in just 2 weeks. I also use free weights - I do a 'standing' routine with them but also if Im sitting on settee I pick them up and just work my arms. You can put the exercise you've done on Livestrong and it counts the calorie burn so you can balance against what you've eaten. Aside from that if out and about I tend to walk. It was my birthday on Tuesday and the best feeling was to fit into a dress i haven't been able to wear for almost 3 years (I wanted to open the window and shout it outGrin )

I don't like running. & couldn't do any diet involving shakes, Id need solid food - as a real foodie I put a bit of effort into finding low cal/fat etc snacks so I can graze throughout the day. But I think each person finds what works best for themself - as long as we are all getting fitter and healthier, thats what counts.

I don't like to comment on people's weight loss unless I know they're aiming to lose weight - for all I know they could've been ill, or stressed, or bereaved etc. But if I know they're on a weight loss plan then I'll always say congrats on their achievement, why not...makes them feel good and it inspire me too

Well done, fab weight loss. You need to use those negative comments by having an "I bloody show you attitude"

I have been a yoyo dieter all my life (losing 5 stone then gaining it back every few years. I am down three stone and still losing at present. I over heard my neighbour saying, "Here she goes again, it will all be back by Christmas."

I have joined a gym and thrown myself into getting fit and toned. I am also treating myself to a Swedish massage once a month if I don't gain.

Stick with it, it will be worth it.

Thank you :)

I obviously won't be living off milkshakes but I have to say I know plenty of people who lost weight conventionally (through Weight Watchers, Slimming World or similar) and have put it on again.

Believe me I have a maintenance programme planned, have had it planned since March really. No way am I going back to being mahoosize!

I might be thin (well thinnish) but I'm not fit! I think running might be a bit beyond me just at the moment!
