She's 6...she had chicken pox over half term and returned to school after half term...yesterday school called me to pick her up an hour early as she was "as white as a sheet" and didn't want to join in with singing....she was hot too.

The teacher said she'd fallen over at playtime and had a shock so it could be that.

She'd hardly eaten anything all day and now, though she looks ok she's still pale and tired looking...she has a nasty bruise on her bottom where she fell (down some steps) and is generally a bit out of sorts....do I keep her off?

You are her mother. Do you think a day off will benefit her?

Some children do better distracted at school, some are better having a pj day.

Yes I think she needs to have a rest and eat some decent food. She loves school but tends to eat about three bites of a sandwich and then leg it out for playtime....I feel like she's lost weight while she had chicken pox and needs building up....I may have a word with school about her not eating enough at lunch as I think she was white because of low blood sugar.

I'd keep DS off in that circumstance, mostly to keep an eye on him & be sure in myself that he was okay. I may be a little pfb-biased though! Blush

I think love, hugs, sleep, food and not having to sit a bruised bum on hard school chairs might have a lot going for it.

Chicken pox is horrible, I had it as an adult and felt like I'd got full blown flu for the first three days. Then the spots itch and stop you sleeping. It's not nice.

Thanks guys. I called school and told them and they were very understanding and said she was washed out....that she'd had a lot on and was better here. I always doubt myself and need someone to tell me I'm making the right choice! Grin

Hope she's feeling better. Sounds like a day or two at home will do her the world of good.
