to be pissed off about these Sondico football boots?

The DSs have just started doing football club and have to have football boots with studs. I bought them some Sondico boots which seemed like a reputable brand.

Now, a few months in, DS1's studs have worn down, and a couple have come off altogether. The boots came with a couple of spares, but I need more. So, I looked on the Sondico website - only a few sets of studs and not clear if any are for kids boots, or come in different sizes.

I rang their Customer Care line, got a very friendly chap who admitted he had no clue and was just looking at the same web page as me. He suggested we could try the metal studs, which would 'probably' fit. I bought them, and they don't, they're far too big - clearly adult studs.

None of the other studs on the website look anything like the ones on the DS's boots (different materials etc.)

I am really annoyed, as this makes DS1's boots close to useless, and I was expecting them to last a good while. Shame on you, Sondico!

Any tips for brands I should buy next time that do supply spare studs?

Same problem here. Bought a pair of Sondico boots for DD. First training saw her come back minus three studd. Tightened the remaining ones as tight as I could and now three weeks on have lost another three. Pretty much no screw in studs left after a month and can't get replacements. Useless

And same again here, two training sessions and only have 3 studs left even though we've been tightening them beforehand. Called customer services to ask if they stocked the replacement studs for the kids Sondico boots and they tried to convince me that the studs online were all "one size fits all" even though I'd been to the store and seen for myself that they were all too big and told there that they couldn't get them in store. Customer services suggested I take them back to the store and get them swapped over. Luckily still have receipt. Will be changing for something other than Sondico!

I actually found replacement Sondico studs today - and they fit (DD size 3 boots). They were in the Sports Direct at Piccadilly Circus (the old Lulywhite's) in the boot section.

They cost £4 for a set of a dozen. There were also much bigger studs but I finally found the small ones. The description on the back says Sondico Core Fball Stud00 and there is a number 840066-90.

Hope that helps someone.

DS has played football for the past 11 seasons and has only ever had blades, apart from one season when he had screw in studs and we realised they were difficult to play in unless the ground was very soft. Is it absolutely necessary to have studs, especially at such a young age?

Hissy · 10/10/2014 22:12

what size are they? DS has some footy boots, size 4, worn once, bit muddy, but i'll sort that.

they are sondico though Wink

another Adidas fan here - both my girls play - they need grass and astro trainers and they go through them like locusts through corn - Adidas seem to last longest x

Hi Sorry but I don't actually think there is a fault with these boots.
All boots with screw in studs need them tightened before the 1st use and checked every week after. Normally tells you this in the info supplied with the boots. Not all makes come with a stud key but a normal spanner will work just as well. All metal studs will wear quickly if walking on tarmac or concret especially the ones at the ball of the foot and again need checked every week by running your hands over them for sharp rags. If football is anything like rugby any rags on your studs and you will not be allowed to play. Never found a stud or boot that dont fit together as the gauge on the studs are the same from make to make so all you need to do is measure the length of the stud in mm eg 11mm and goggle that length to get replacements. As there is no such thing as kids or adult, Length of stud is determined by what the playing surface is like.
Sorry for the essay

Sondico is sports direct, but they should last much longer! It is their brand, but we have been pleased with all the football stuff we have got from them. I'd return them for a refund.

I usually buy ds's football boots off ebay as he goes through them so quickly... Find out what boots fit your DS, then you can buy the next size up to keep as spares - DS suits adidas predator boots so I look out for those.
