To think businesses have to pay for material returned to them?

Leaflet from UKIP through the door with Nutty Nige's buffoonish face all over it. I was about to chuck it in the re-cycling when I noticed that it had a return address on it.

I was wondering if I sent the leaflet back with 'return to sender', complete with some graffiti to UKIP HQ would it cost them anything? It would be petty, but I would like to think it cost them some money and inconvenienced them in some way. Am I right in thinking it costs businesses to receive mail marked 'Return to Sender'?

An an alternative, we also have a few bathroom tile samples lying about. They are quite heavy, so if I chucked a few of them and the leaflet in a jiffy bag without a stamp, would that cost UKIP a few quid?

Any ideas of how to adorn Farage's idiot face would be gratefully received. On the front cover I have drawn a spunking cock and balls forehead, but the other picture remains as yet unadorned.

Definitely. I was looking for a home for last season's Next Directory and I think I may have found it...

jacks365 · 28/04/2014 16:01

No sorry unless it is a free post address. Shame or I'd do the same with mine. On the bright side it did give us a laugh

You could put it in an envelope write the address on put something heavy in it and just forget the stamp. Morally very very wrong of course but the recipient would have to pay postage plus a handling fee.

Twitter recommends sending foreign tiles to this address mobile.twitter.com/sabotthecat/status/459277765561569280

ComposHat · 28/04/2014 16:24

Ha Brilliant! Done! Tiles all packaged up and ready to send.

Yes return them to UKIP's freepost address:

UKIP FREEPOST RLSU-HZBG-UBBG, Lexdrum House, TQ12 6UT

They have to pay per item returned, so it your leaflet must be chopped into 25 pieces and each piece returned individually then so be it...

bigdog888 · 29/04/2014 07:35

What a pathetic thing to do!

Uptheairymountain · 29/04/2014 07:43

Aaah, I've thrown my leaflet away! I did flick through it though to see if I could return it foc.

Is there any way you can stop these being put through your door? I've had a BNP flyer before and I'd rather not have rubbish like that put through my letterbox.

ComposHat · 29/04/2014 10:54

No ut isn't bigdog if UKIP want to shove unsolicited material through my letterbox. I am perfectly at liberty to do the se to thrm.

I can see the point you're making, but I did actually consider the postal workers first, before I passed the idea on, and decided that returns to UKIP will be delivered as sackfuls of mail in a van, after UKIP pays the bill. My biggest ethical quandary is whether UKIP will refuse to pay, and that Royal Mail* will end up having processed a load of post without payment.

As I have never worked in that department of Royal Mail, it is possible I am wrong though, and I will accept correction from postal workers, past and present, who've done business deliveries.

*Don't want Royal Mail being driven any further into the ground than it already has been.

ComposHat · 29/04/2014 11:43

Accused of being a tracksuit wearing layabout and being part of the metropolitan twiteratti in successive posts. Both of which are so far from the mark as to be risible.

sarinka so being opposed to UKIP and their policies means that you are in favour of a ine party dictatorship? Care to explain logic behind that statement?

sarinka your post could stand as an example of logical fallacy for 1st year philosophy students.

Anything that appears in my letterbox, which I think is offensive (I would include a lot of political leaflets in that category) is used in the guinea pigs' house to soak up their wee. I reckon that's a good use for it all.

Tilly in this instance do not worry about royal mail if it goes via the free post address then the company or in this case political party does not have the right to refuse it or refuse to pay. Unstamped mail would normally go on the same account too.

Yes we have political freedom in this country and that includes the right to let political parties know exactly how we feel about them

Elfontheedge · 29/04/2014 12:44

Is ComposHat a man then?

ComposHat · 29/04/2014 12:45

CompoShat, you ought to work at choosing your best zinger and delivering that.

Ahh I sse what you've done there. That is both funny and original. Well done you.

Dorothy Parker must be cacking herself with fear.

I fully understand your argument, but it is utter unmitigated tripe.

OP posts:
Redorwhitejusthaveboth · 29/04/2014 12:46

I think it's quite simple... I like democracy and smaller parties having a voice ... But I don't like any part of UKIP or what they stand for.
I find them offensive and like the idea of making things harder for them.

You can argue the point using in depth terminology as long as you like... The bottom line is that they are racist idiots who actually have no place in a society that I want to be part of...
Thanks for the free post address... Wink

TillyTellTale · 29/04/2014 12:48

So, we'll be actually supporting Royal Mail, then? Yay!

ComposHat · 29/04/2014 12:54

elf yes I am, although I can't see it is directly relevant in this context.

I suspect sarinka has gone to the trouble of searching my previous posts as she references the fact I've commented critically on the Royal Family and my gender. If this is the case I am touched she felt it was worth the bother.

glenthebattleostrich · 29/04/2014 12:54

But the joy of living in a free society is that everyone gets a voice, or are you saying that only those who have the same opinion as you should be allowed an opinion?

I forget who said it but my favourite quote is 'I may not agree with your opinion but I will fight for your right to hold it'
