I am in one pub and dh and dd are in another watching the footy. This is the best way of not having to put up with the football conversation. I am having a chill out, nice meal and a cuppa, and they get to shout and cheers at/for people they don't know, have never met, and have nothing to do with the town they represent.

Ooops, that turned into a mini rant. Apologies Blush

My DH is late back from the DIY shop and I might miss kick off in the pub. Should I LTB?

LangenFlugelHappleHoff · 27/04/2014 13:51

I once met a friend in a pub for a couple of wines and a catch up - unfortunately we chose the wrong time as ten minutes after we arrived the football started.

What amused me though was the group of lads and one girl on the table next to us. They were drinking and laughing but as soon as the football started the girl plugged in her earphones and opened a book. I'm guessing she was a long suffering girlfriend of one of the lads.

We shared a little grin and an eye roll. She must get some good girlfriend points lol.

(sorry to hijack thread but desperate times.....)

LangenFlugelHappleHoff · 27/04/2014 13:55

Oh oh oh! The best trick in a tense game is to slowly pull your dp/dfriends ever so slightly back, each time they do that half standing half sitting pose while clenching in the hope they will score. If it's a nail biter of a game they will end up butt slamming the floor.

I'm super evil bit it makes the time morr entertaining for me Grin

chair pull their chair! Stoopid phone!

Louise1956 · 27/04/2014 16:30

Go out with some friends you can talk to about things you enjoy. Avoid going to the pub with your partner, since he is inevitably going to meet football minded friends there.

FlimFlamFloo · 27/04/2014 23:35

RedFocus you sound like a total cow.

I like footy but not as much as my husband but I would never ban him from watching it.
