Just spend the best part of 3 hours sorting mine out.

Lost all my data recently backed up so only a few photos of cats.

DH updated his iPhone and the battery now dies at an alarming rate. Pretty new handset too. Gets to 40% and then just switches off. I didn't do mine given his experience!

IamInvisible · 26/04/2014 20:23

DS2 has done his iPad and it is fine. I haven't done mine yet. I am going to take all my holiday photos off first just incase and tell DH to do the same.

MrsWickens · 26/04/2014 20:23

My phone hasn't worked properly since going to ios7 so I did this update hoping it would improve things but nope no luck there. No other problems yet but experience tells me that will change.

LaurieFairyCake · 26/04/2014 20:29

Thousands of people have experienced problems

Who really wants to fry their wi if chip and lose all their data?

My sister lost hers last week and Apple refused a replacement saying it wasn't the software update - its bollocks cos it's happened to so many people

Chattymummyhere · 26/04/2014 20:34

All apple items updated and working fine in our house

dementedma · 26/04/2014 21:10

I switched to an iPhone last year and regret it. Will be going back to android as soon as I can get out of the contact.

Kittymautz · 26/04/2014 22:57

I haven't upgraded my iPhone yet, but had no problems the last time.

Dementedma - I just googled "Android update problems" and it looks like people have had similar problems with Androids.

backwardpossom · 26/04/2014 23:05

I don't understand why you would do an update without making sure everything is backed up first, so on that basis YABU. There's a pop up reminding you to do it before you update.

ICanSeeTheSun · 26/04/2014 23:09

I did back it up last week, so only a few pics of cats.

Sorry OP, I didn't read your OP properly. Although I stand by my point that anyone who updates without backing up first is an idiot Wink

ICanSeeTheSun · 26/04/2014 23:29

I agree.

Re Android my phone updated to KitKat about a month ago with no problems. I don't have any i.

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 27/04/2014 00:00

I'm an idiot. I got a message yesterday saying there was a software update available. I downloaded it no problem. I did balls my phone up recently though. Tried to update it via the computer using a non-gen cable and it couldn't handle the data and froze. Was locked on the 'plug it into iTunes' screen which I couldn't do because it wouldn't recognise the cable. Didn't have the proper cable so drove twenty five miles to the big city to the Apple store and they plugged it in and it was fine. Nearly shat myself at the thought of losing my phone. Luckily had backed it up but am far too reliant on it. Can't have Apple issuing faulty software. I love my iPhone. Blush

RoadKillBunny · 27/04/2014 00:02

Done mine without a problem.
I now have the issue that mine is one of the recalled handsets (for the on/off/lock button) if you take it to an apple store or official retailer you can get a loan handset for the 3-5 days they say it may take otherwise you have to send it off and then wait for it to come back which would take over a week leaving you without phone for that time.
Live in the sticks, nearest place I could take it is over 50 mikes away. I can't be without phone for a week as use for work, need to be contactable in the school day and also for emergancy as work with horses on my own.
Whole thing leaves me a but stuffed. The problem for me right now is intermittent and not causing too much bother so think I will hang on until visiting family end of next month in city with Apple store. Have heard some people being given new handsets though so who knows.
Think I needed to get my igrump out 9 on that one!

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 27/04/2014 00:04

What are the recalled handsets RoadKillBunny?

I've only just upgraded to iOS 7 I think, it flippin EATS battery though - I'm charging it overnight and 1-2 times in the day! Anyone know if there's a way of fixing this?

backwardpossom · 27/04/2014 10:40

Do you have your Bluetooth and GPS turned off? My iPhone 4s gets charged overnight and that's all. Wifi is on all day.

napoleonsnose · 27/04/2014 10:46

Updated two iPhones and an iPad so far with no problems, although one phone did take ages.

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 27/04/2014 10:55

Ooh thanks ICanSeeTheSun. Apparently my phone is eligible for the fix but I've never had a problem with it. Can't be done till May 2nd anyway according to their info.

Re the battery life, read this guide to turning off all those automatic battery munching programs that are continuously running in the background. It's an enlightening read!

Veins · 27/04/2014 11:15

I updated my iPhone, iPad and Apple TV and have no problems.

ThePearShapedToad · 27/04/2014 11:20

Mines fine, but also I have mine set to auto backup whenever it is locked, plugged in and on wifi (so basically everynight when I go to sleep and it charges)

don't need a lecture about not charging your iPhone overnight

ICanSeeTheSun · 27/04/2014 12:19

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme glad I could help.

Mine and DH phones are not but not having a problem.

Out of 8 apple devices that I updated personally every single one updated as required with no problems and I did this as soon as the update was released. My ex has 4 apple devices and his all updated fine too. I've never had a problem with any of the updates.

DillydollyRIP · 27/04/2014 12:25

Haven't updated yet. Think I'm going to hold off a bit.
