To wonder what the need is for a social services visit

I have just had a phone call from social services saying they want to come out and see me and my 11 year old daughter because she has been using chat rooms.

Aibu in not seeing the need for a home visit because of this? Don't most children her age use them?

It can't be too concerning if they have cancelled. Something more worrying has obviously come along to be dealt with immediately. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

What will you do about allowing DD access to chat rooms until then?

My 11 year old isn't allowed access to chat rooms. The closest she gets is movie star planet and I moderate it.

What chat rooms is she in? I would immediately think she's being groomed if SS have got involved. Have you logged in to her accounts?

What chat rooms?

I hope she's OK, OP.

Sometimes friends find out about what DCs are up to online before parents do, and, being concerned may tell someone at school or their own parents

I have found out the referral came from camhs, she told her counsellor that she has been using chat rooms (didnt mention that I supervise) and counsellor was worried that she might be arranging to meet people (she isn't) and referred it to social services, she was using tiny chat but I stopped that because I heard bad things about it and she has now got a movie star planet account which I have all the details for and supervise her on
