black tights!?

I am very poor, the dress is all I have but am brightening it up with colourful accessories.

I hate my legs, I have scars on them from an accident surfing a few years back so want to cover them hence the black tights.

Will this look like I'm going to a funeral?

Mummygee I want to know more here... Did any of the other guests or relatives mention to her at any point that it was bizarre and inappropriate??

Black is fine as long as you jazz it up OP Grin

I got married recently and a couple of guests wore black dresses. They looked lovely and I hope they felt as fab as they looked Smile Wouldn't have occurred to me in the slightest to be upset by it. It's not as if they wore white and even if they had I don't think I'd have cared as long as they had a great time and weren't in actual wedding dresses Grin

Far more important things going on at a wedding and too easy to sweat the small stuff I think. If a bride is that offended I'd find it very odd!

Doilooklikeatourist · 24/04/2014 22:14

I wore a black dress to a wedding , with a cream hat and jacket .
And shock bare legs with black shoes
Black dress , black tights is fine , please don't worry , go , enjoy the party and celebrate :)

mummytowillow · 24/04/2014 22:26

M&S have just launched some new tights to match skin tone.

£6 and supposed to make your legs look immaculate!

I'm going to get some for ca wedding I'm going to as I hate my legs.

Caitlin17 · 24/04/2014 23:02

Oh dear I thought you meant as the bride and was going to say well Yvette Cooper and I wore black velvet.

Yes you'll be fine. Can you wear bright scarf/ hat/jewellery?

maddening · 24/04/2014 23:14

As long as you are not mother of the groom or an ex of the groom there's no prob if black tights then bright shoes to match accessories or coloured tights to match accessories or nude tights

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 24/04/2014 23:59

I got married in black once, and wore black tights, black shoes, and a black hat, so go for it Grin

MoreLifeInATrampsVest · 25/04/2014 01:03

I wore black to my own wedding. And we got married in a church Grin

Grennie · 25/04/2014 01:05

I fancied wearing black to my own soon to be wedding. DP vetoed the idea.

Edenprime · 25/04/2014 14:59

I got married last year. I really didn't care what any one was wearing :) althouggggh I would be a bit confused if some one had turned up in a wedding dress like mentioned earlier on :P

wishinwaitinhopin · 25/04/2014 15:30

I think you'd be fine .... If you had very bright accessories and a colourful jacket! Grin

MySweetPrince · 25/04/2014 15:37

My niece wore a lovely black crochet dress to a friends wedding...nude tights and high patent heels and looked gorgeous.

GreenPetal94 · 25/04/2014 15:41

If you like the dress wear it. Or maybe have a trek around some charity shops as they tend to be full of dresses which have only been worn once.

A lot of "wedding clothes" are not great, wear what you feel comfortable in and can afford.

CasperGutman · 25/04/2014 15:54

We had our bridesmaids in black. Why not?
