I bet your fish shops doesn't stink either. The one in our town did. It stank out all the nearby shops too. Then they made a fuss when a fush van from another town came once a week and 'stole their business'. No, people just won't buy from a shop that stinks.

Wherediparkmybroom · 23/04/2014 18:18

What about sea bass Giles? Valuable info here! There I was just prattling about......

Chippednailvarnish · 23/04/2014 18:18

Only if it's served cold though eh Giles Grin

Wherediparkmybroom · 23/04/2014 18:20

MammaTJ there is no need for a stink.....fresh fish doesn't smell and if I wouldn't feed it to the baby I won't sell it.....seems to be a standard that works. Mind you I've smelt some nasty tescos fish counters lately.

Yes I like sea bass!! I have a lovely recipe for sea bass baked in coconut milk with chilli (a few other bits like some soy sauce)

It's delicious

I'll dig it out in a bit :) it's from a very old book though

Leeds2 · 23/04/2014 18:24

Could you post the recipe, Wheredid? It sounds lovely!

Wouldn't mind the one for sea bass in coconut milk too. I love fish, but can never think what to do with it beyond poaching.

Wherediparkmybroom · 23/04/2014 18:24

Excellent, I picked up an old copy of Floyd on fish the other day in the local charity shop!

Wherediparkmybroom · 23/04/2014 18:27

Chorizo, shallot, butter in a pan till soft.
Linguine on to cook,
Sear scallops with chorizo,
Remove from heat,
Add cream, parsley and black pepper,
Drain and add pasta
Stir trough over a low heat
And serve!

10 mins start to finish eat your heart out Jamie Oliver!

Where are you based? Love fish and even my über fussy boy will whack huge lumps of smoked salmon into him.

Wherediparkmybroom · 23/04/2014 18:30

For adults a little white wine and salt doesn't go amiss in the searing stage!!!
