To have gone to the doctors about a bump on head?

As nice as the doctor was I got the distinct feeling he thought I was wasting his time :(
The only doctor at my surgery who's remotely good with the kids is only in on a Tuesday so I got there first thing this morning and was told they only had emergency appts with him this afternoon but seeing as we are away next week I wanted it checked.
My son jumped up at my husband for a hug 3 weeks back and caught my husbands chin with the top of his head, my husband screamed in pain, son laughed, we went out for the day and thought no more of it until bath time noticed a hard lump about the size of a 50p.
It's been going down slowly but surely and no other signs of anything serious but I'd have thought it would be gone by now?
He basically said he would have been / still would be in pain if there was a fracture of any sort along with other signs and basically to stop touching it as things on the bone can take a long time to heal.
Feel a bit silly now but deep down I'm still slightly concerned, am I being neurotic?

Not at all. I remember your first thread, and I said then that anything concerning you should be run by a qualified professional (Dr or nurse etc). I would expect a lump from a bump to have gone by now, so I too would have mentioned it to my GP. I have mentioned lymph nodes that were enlarged before and the GP checked them with no argument.
YWNBU to get it checked. It may be that the lump will go of its own accord, and is just taking its sweet time, but you were right to ask.
I think if it is still there in a week I would see a different GP to get a second opinion. Better to be safe than sorry with children, though I am sure it will just be a slow healing bump and nothing to worry about.

I wouldn't go to the docs for that. But if it was worrying you then it was worth setting your mind at ease.

Thankyou for both responses
I guess everyone is different aren't they and what worries some doesn't worry others.
I would have totally understood a bump that wasn't going from a massive bang but from what seemed quite a minor bump I was suprised at the lump that followed.
Apparently haematomas can take months to go back into the system however I think I will wait until we are back from holiday and go back.
Surely I would know though if it was a fracture?
I really hope there would be other signs.
He said " I very much doubt it, he would be in horrendous pain " so I guess that's all he could say to put my mind at rest. But it hasn't.
