To think that of course a toddler can be proud of their "work"

We went to a council run event at the weekend and there was a craft stall. DD (8) did quite a complicated bit of work while DS (21 months) enjoyed gluing feathers and sequins onto a piece of paper and complementing them with a few felt tip squiggles.

As soon as we got home he went to the pram basket found his picture and brought it to me so I put it on the fridge with a magnet and he smiled happily. I put his sisters next to his. He points at it every now and again and grins then points at himself.

I just spoke to my mum on hte phone and mentioned that DS was obviously very proud of his creation and her response was "don't be ridiculous he's 21 months old, of course he's not proud of it he just wants attention like any toddler".

Humph of course my little genius is proud of his work Grin

You are showing him how much you like the thing he created - that is a really good thing, and your mum is being a bit of a 'nana.

Of course he can be proud. My just turned 2 year old made daddy a plasticine worm this morning and won't let me touch it until do gets in from work. He's very proud of it :)

YANBU DD2 is 23 months and shouts "TaDa!" Everytime she finishes a scribble.

YANBU. He sounds so cute.

18mo DD2 claps at herself all the time, and doesn't stop until someone else claps too. :o
