AIBU to worry about a new school?

Hi everyone.

Our landlord has sold out house and were moving in 2 weeks.

It's not far, but far enough to change schools. My eldest dd age 9 has sensory processing disorder and autism. I'm getting myself into a right state over choosing the 'right' (not best by ofsted etc) school for her and I'm at war with myself over making the right choice. My son ds aged 6 will also move school.

Am I being a bit stupid? Is primary school not thd stage at which to panic? I'm just worried about her making friends and having a few friends to go to secondary school with. My son is so outgoing he will wing it, no probs.

I want to make the right choice for her both academically and for her disability, but thd local school is full and flatly refused. A few other schools appeal but the thought of making the choice that could affect them so much has sent me off the rails.

Please, just looking for some helpful advice x

Suggest you make an appointment to see the SENCO at whichever schools you are thinking of to see what support and understanding they can offer your daughter. Are there any local autism support groups near your new area - they can usually give you the lowdown on how good (or otherwise) the schools are in the local area for children with autism.
