Feeling really ill :-(. I've been on antibiotics from the dentist, so I can't work out if its a reaction to that or a general virus.

Bellyache (with the odd stabbing pain), nausea, I did have awful poos but that seems to be calming down, hardly eaten in 48 hours because I just can't face it and food is hard to swallow, hot and cold flushes, joint pain, ear pain, toothache, dizziness, exhaustion but also restlessness, headache, sore throat, can't deal with bright lights (typing on a dimmed ipad in bed)

It seems to come and go but it's been extra bad from about 2pm yesterday. Just feel really sorry for myself and need soothing words and company.

The kids have been away with expil and get back tomorrow, I was really looking forward to seeing them and taking them easter egg rolling and now I think my Dad will have to watch them for me :-(

Sounds viral plus toothache to me, hopefully it is peaking and will pass soon, you poor thing.

Brittapieandchips · 21/04/2014 04:45

I actually rang my mum earlier, partially for advice but mostly because I wanted my mums voice like a child. I'm 29 with two kids and a divorce ffs, but I still wanted my Mummy :-(

Aww that's rough.

Have you had paracetamol

Jinty64 · 21/04/2014 04:47

Sorry you are feeling so terrible. (((Hug))) Could you manage a couple of paracetamol? I always find they make me feel a bit better. It sounds like an infection of some sort. I'm very prone to tonsillitis and thats how it makes me feel. If you think it's getting worse then phone out of hours for advice.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Brittapieandchips · 21/04/2014 04:47

That's pathetic, isn't it? At least DP is staying over tonight but he doesn't stay when the kids are here and is going to see his kids tomorrow daytime.

Brittapieandchips · 21/04/2014 04:49

Thinking of trying sudafed (no paracetamol in) but I don't trust my belly. Had some before and it did help a bit.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 21/04/2014 04:49

Am afraid I need to get some sleep but I hope you are better soon

Brittapieandchips · 21/04/2014 04:49

Also I'd have to wake DP, I'm too dizzy for the stairs :-(

OP posts:
fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 21/04/2014 04:50

Don't take saudades at night, it's a stimulant

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 21/04/2014 04:50

Err sudafed

Brittapieandchips · 21/04/2014 04:51

Thank you :-). I'm just feeling extremely sorry for myself. If that wasn't obvious.

Ohbyethen · 21/04/2014 05:03

That sounds really rough Sad
Have you got enough fluids to hand?
I'm sure your dp wouldn't mind stocking you up with drugs, drinks and any other things that might make you feel a bit more comfy.

Sounds daft but can you face jelly? Or clear broth? These are my go to things when I'm having a flare up - I don't have to chew, I can sip or have a teaspoon when I can face it and the salts and sugars do help with the feeling like a used flannel thing - rehydration sachets are good but I can't stand the taste & if it's a choice between that and jelly, well dioralyte can get fucked.

Whatever it is I hope it goes quickly. In the meantime have some sympathy Thanks

Brittapieandchips · 21/04/2014 05:10

I'm slowly sipping my way through a pint of water. Was drinking berroca or herbal tea in the daytime but it started making me feel ill. Managed a few nibbles of an easter egg and half a potato waffle earlier, and they are my usual comfort foods, I had to be encouraged by DP to eat them because they just felt like cotton wool in my mouth.

When I doze I'm having mad dreams too, and all the sweating has made me smell, which isnt helping.

Ohbyethen · 21/04/2014 05:40

And you've never had any reactions to antibiotics before? I know it's like the most basic question, however I had to tell everyone about my bad reaction to a drug and still had to refuse to take it when it was given to me by a parade of poor nurses that were following the charts. Or actually if you've ever had it before?

Pack of baby wipes in the fridge be any help? You can get them really cold and it's refreshing wipe down any time you feel sticky without having to coordinate showers.
The flat coke/lemonade is a bit more palatable than berroca.
If you can't eat then taking antibiotics will make you feel like shit. On top of what else may be going on. It may be worth speaking to ooh because if you start being sick (which is more likely the longer you don't eat but take them) then they're bugger all use.
Do you think you could get down some dry toast or something equally bland just to line your stomach?

giraffesCantBoogie · 21/04/2014 05:41

You are allowed to feel sorry for yourself, hope you feel better soon.

giraffesCantBoogie · 21/04/2014 05:43

Can you watch tv? Easy watching comforting stuff like friends, IT crowd, peep show all good to watch when ill as funny and nothing horrid happens.

LibraryMum8 · 21/04/2014 06:07

I am so sorry. Can you manage a bit of beef tea? I hope you turn the corner soon.

Brittapieandchips · 21/04/2014 11:29

DP essentially bullied (in a nice way) me into drinking a lemsip at some point after these posts and I'm gingerly sipping one now too. Seems to be helping.

I only have two more anti biotics to take - should have finished them yesterday but could only face one.

TentUpFirstBunkUpLater · 21/04/2014 11:42

A family member had a bad reaction to metronidazole from the dentist - is that what you have been taking?

Brittapieandchips · 21/04/2014 11:51

Amoxicillin, which I had a few months ago with no issues, I think, again for my teeth. But I might be wrong.

I think my kidneys are hurting now, but DP says its too low for that.

OP posts:
Brittapieandchips · 21/04/2014 11:57

Ah ha! No it isn't! Looked it up.

In the process I remembered that I spent a week in hospital during my first pregnancy for a kidney infection. Don't know how I forgot that. It's not as painful but in the same place.

No idea if there's blood in my wee because I've been on and off my perid for about a month now.

Really I should be sold for scrap.

OP posts:
Brittapieandchips · 21/04/2014 11:58

DP just read over my shoulder and wants me to clarify ut wasn't bullying, it was stern admonition Grin

Cornettoninja · 21/04/2014 12:03

You have a lot going on there, poor you.

You could ring 111, but I suspect they'll tell you to see your gp tomorrow if you're no better. If your taking antibiotics I would guess that you have got something viral since medication would target anything bacterial.

Fluids and a little bland food if you can manage it will help you recover faster. My family never believe me, but if you're not eating properly then that's going to make you feel worse on top of everything. If you like bovril that's a good one, or clear chicken soup. Once you've finished your antibiotics get some activia to give your gut a bit of a helping hand getting back on track. There's no point while your still on your course though.

Paracetamol and ibruprofen will help with the aches and fever (you can take both together in the normal doses as long as you have no issues with either normally. I usually leave half an hour/hour between them) but don't forget lemsip will have paracetamol in it so don't double up.

If you're not feeling up to washing at least open your bedroom window while you rest. Ill fug does nothing to help you, get your dp to change the bed clothes as well.

Sleep as much as you can and hopefully you'll pass the peak of feeling like shit sooner rather than later.

KissesBreakingWave · 21/04/2014 12:05

Whatever you do, don't go googling your way through your symptoms. Friend of mind did that recently, and it told him he had ovarian cancer.

Cornettoninja · 21/04/2014 12:09

Oh and if you haven't been keeping your fluids up it's perfectly possible to aggravate your kidneys if your prone to infections - I learnt that one the hard way!
