Today I decided to make my first red wine and beef casserole. I got expensive cuts of beef and red wine. It's been cooking for 2 hours and smells luverley. I text DP to tell him what I was making and he said he was very much looking forward to it.

I went to the oven to go and stir it, the lid wasn't on properly and I dropped the whole feking thing over the floor. I was about to burst into tears with flashing images of DPs disappointed face and eating a bland cod and chippy with more money down the drain.

So, instead of crying I washed my hands, I picked up what I could and put it back in the dish and made more stock and the last of the red wine, I washed the floors this morning with that non toxic plant based stuff so thought FUCK IT - DP will never know.

Am I unreasonable and disgusting !? Easter Blush

(I should have name changed with shame)

It'll be fine - clean floor, hot food - make sure it simmers properly for at least ten minutes. Grin

YABU to have thrown it! I can almost smell it now, we're having curry but I really fancy the beef. Smile

Back in the day the wonderful Fanny Cradock was on TV cooking a roast chicken. Now back then tv went out live. As she went to take the chicken out of the oven the fell on the floor, live on tv.
She looked at the camera and said 'remember ladies, you are alone on your own kitchen', picked the chicken up and put it on a plate to carve.

By the way, next time you make it, you could use cheaper cuts of meat & simmer it for longer - casseroled shin of beef is delicious after at least 4 hours but very tough otherwise.

I see no problem with that at all, I hope it's lovely.

GreatSoprendo · 19/04/2014 20:13

I'd have done exactly the same thing. Enjoy your dinner - it sounds lovely!

WaterLoadaCack · 19/04/2014 20:17

Oh Ive chucked dinner over the floor loads of times and picked it up and carried on.

Can afford to waste food, and Id still eat your scabby floor casserole. Grin

MammaTJ · 19/04/2014 20:27

I would eat it, even knowing what has happened. I am Envy

wouldn't eat it off my minging kitchen floor though, or maybe I would

Itsfab · 19/04/2014 20:41

Maybe I should start cleaning my kitchen floor more often the amount of food I drop on the floor and have to bin.

Will you tell DP?

RedandChecker · 19/04/2014 20:44

NO he's scoffed down the whole thing without a clue Grin
