My DP thinks I'm boring and need a hobby (just what I need to hear when I got a young baby to look after) what he means is that in general I've lost all interests. Trying to think what I like but my brain has turned to mush. What are your hobbies etc and maybe I will be inspired :)

I want to learn balloon modelling.
I think it would be inexpensive and fun.
But I also wouldn't tell anyone as I may look a bit bonkers, but then one day, at a BBQ or something I would crack open My kit and stun and amaze all my friends with a huge giraffe or a Mallet's Mallett.

jeanmiguelfangio · 19/04/2014 18:25

Im a knitter, keeps me sane (its pretty relaxing and knitting for small people is easy). Also I love reading and I do the family research thing too.
If your Dh is so bothered by you being boring, maybe he should take you out instead Grin

GoblinLittleOwl · 19/04/2014 18:26

I would suggest: join a book group, choir, amateur dramatics, dance class, art group, french lessons, anything in fact that takes place in the evening so that your husband can babysit and find out just how stimulating childcare can be.

Hobbies were neglected when DC were young...now I have the time and fractionally more money I can do 'stuff'
I read, MN Wink, sail, play football, walk my dog, camp, hike, caravan.

HannerHet · 19/04/2014 18:30

Horse riding, reading, walking the dog

SaucyJack · 19/04/2014 18:30

Vegan cooking
Muay thai

WitchWay · 19/04/2014 18:37

Cycling, hiking, choir, crochet, knitting, baking

RinkyTinkTen · 19/04/2014 18:46

My hobby is riding & my horse. It's time consuming and expensive but it's the only time and place where I'm me & not 'a mummy'.

Finding a decent hobby is great but it's a bit mean of your DH to be so negative about you not having a hobby. The problem with a hobby is the time it can take up. I imagine if you took up riding for example he wouldn't find it so funny then and that would serve him right Grin

NearTheWindymill · 19/04/2014 18:50

I do it every day and have to but cooking; also probably house renovation at the moment, Mnetting. I'd like more time for hobbies but between two teenagers, a full time job, house renovation and a small family business there isn't that much time. I'm waiting for the next stage of my life to start - the me bit.

TruJay · 19/04/2014 18:58

Like little princess I love to craft. card making mostly and recently have started making save the date cards/wedding invitations and had my first client/job just last week! So proud of myself and felt great to make some money/do something productive. Have also started swimming twice weekly and love it. Feeling a lot better lately as haven't really done much for myself since having my son who is now 4 and we now have our recent addition, baby girl now 5 months. I am with my children 24/7 as DH and I don't really get the opportunity to go out together (lack of sitters) everyone needs a hobby even if it has taken me ages to figure this out.

Fathertedfan · 19/04/2014 20:53

Horses

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 19/04/2014 20:55

I geocache (with DH and DD though), run, sew (for work and for a hobby), craft (altered art is my thing), and cycle.

Chocoholism · 19/04/2014 21:08

Just googled geocaching, that looks really interesting! Maybe something I can look into when DD is a bit older!

I have horses, and therefore ride. I also do 2 - 3 exercise sessions per week, either classes or running. I read a LOT! Don't really watch telly. Plus i like making stuff. Food - baking, making jam chutneys etc. Making gifts, sewing stuff, handmade cards etc.

This sounds a lot but i don't do loads all the time. And i really NEVER watch telly. And i don't have children...(yet)

Weegiemum · 19/04/2014 21:14

Reading (especially scifi and theology!), crafts - painting, knitting, calligraphy - I'm learning Chinese brush techniques at the moment! Music - I play clarinet and guitar and am learning piano. I love films, dd1 (14) and I are having a Film Club on the night dh is away and ds and dd2 are at Scouts. I work pt but also volunteer at my church anti-poverty project.

Methe · 19/04/2014 21:19

Gardening mainly... My own garden at home and an allotment. The are lots on things I enjoy but only one I really do with any frequency, iykwim.

itsbetterthanabox · 19/04/2014 21:20

Gaming, horror movies, nails, reading and seeing live stand up.

Nicola19 · 19/04/2014 21:48

Step aerobics in my basement at home (I love the '90s!)

Beastofburden · 19/04/2014 21:53

As it's his bright idea, he has definitely volunteered to do the babysitting . So don't confine yourself to things you can do alone while the baby sleeps. Go geocaching if you fancy it. A friend gets huge pleasure out of her cycling club. Personally I sing in choirs- there is one for every level of experience and confidence and they are hugely sociable.

DerbyDoll · 19/04/2014 21:58

Roller derby!

pickles184 · 19/04/2014 22:08

Horse-riding, skydiving, lots of walking with my dog and dd, if I had the time I'd get back to the gym and swimming as missing both now I lack the time.
I think I'd be slightly concerned at being labelled 'boring' for not having hobbies, but I do think it is good to have an interest or two that doesn't have to involve children iyswim.
