AIBU to effectively 'con' Brittany Ferries?

Booking ferry to France for summer holiday now. Am tempted to take up the offer of cheap crossing for weeked visit and NOT be on the return ferry, then book a cheap single sailing for the actual return.

Am I being a savvy traveller and saving money, or am I conning the system. Opinions please, oh honest MN'ers!

Sorry but they will catch you and charge you for two separate journeys. Euro tunnel have the same policy and I have family work there. Any reg that flags up as ordering two separate weekend trips or that doesn't make its return journey is charged on return for the extra.

We've recently booked Portsmouth to Le Havre, with DFDS Ferries and found them much cheaper. Ok, you have an additional drive the other side, but only about 1.5 hours? Cabins on the outward leg were fully booked though =(

As pp have said, don't be surprised if you get charged for the original journey as a single. BF can and will debit it from your account.

YANBU and enjoy the trip!

I used to do this when I worked in travel. It's a dummy return and would lower the cost of flights significantly.

BertieBotts · 17/04/2014 13:04

Ah, if the terms are as pudcat says then don't!

HexBramble · 17/04/2014 17:41

I didn't in the end although the hankering after cheaper travel is always there!

Thanks for everyone's input. Now
off to find a campsite and gite!

I did this last year with North sea ferries and the Ts and Cs were the same as Brittany ferries, but they didn't charge me extra and a solicitor friend told me that it would not stand up in court, you cannot charge someone for not using a service. They just put it in the T&Cs as a deterrent I guess.
