Am I weird to wash pegs before using them.

First load of washing on the line this year, so I washed and dried the pegs and also wiped the line down.

Mil said this was weird.

But it would feel wrong to put the washing on the line with dirty pegs and line.

The pegs are kept in a bed indoors so no to washing them. But I wipe the line.

clutterqueen · 13/04/2014 17:39

Oh heck no, yanbu! Tis sensible non? Mum mum dies that. I don't because I'm lazy but I would wipe the line.

clutterqueen · 13/04/2014 17:40

Sorry, stupid phone. My mum DOES that!

DieselSpillages · 13/04/2014 17:53

isn't that a bit uncomfy when you go to sleep wirecat Grin

WitchWay · 13/04/2014 18:05

I wipe the line before the first use of the year & again if it's been raining heavily. The pegs live inside when not being used.

OneStepCloser · 13/04/2014 18:07

Pegs have their own bags and live inside the house with the family. Its abusive to leave them on the line poor things.

ICanSeeTheSun · 13/04/2014 18:07

The line is the safest place from the DC who would find some game to play with them.

I don't think it's OCD, unless you feel like you'd have a panic attack if you didn't do it or something. OCD is an illness.

I don't think it's unreasonable either- I don't do it but did get stains on some sheets a while back from using wooden pegs which had been out in the rain. Dunno if plastic pegs do the same, but old or dirty lines do.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 13/04/2014 18:36

Pegs are great exercise for little fingers, we used to string up a line across the living room and they would put socks on and off it very happily.

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 13/04/2014 18:44

PonkyPink - you're right OCD IS an illness, and my Mum does have it. We've lived with it for 50 years, so know what it is, thank you. I was making light of it. Wink

BMW6 · 13/04/2014 20:38

I don't leave pegs on the line cos spiders spin their webs between them if you do..........shudder

Ludways · 13/04/2014 20:47

My rotary line gets an annual wipe, that's why it's still in the shed! My pegs are in a little peg bucket in the utility room.

I'm a complete slattern but I must have matching pegs for each item, the world will end if I don't!!!!

FourEyesGood · 13/04/2014 21:39

I'm going to start using "dirty peg" as an insult now. As in, "Have you met Brian's girlfriend? Seems like a bit of a dirty peg, if you know what I mean..."

(No, I don't wash pegs. They stay outside all year round. No wonder my life's all wrong.)

Rupertandfifi · 13/04/2014 21:48

Wiping the line - acceptable though once a year (at best) here
Washing pegs - I have never ever thought about this until your thread. Shock but it's still a no from me.
My pegs live in their bag inside. I have also used them to help my children learn colours as I doubt I even have more than 6 that match!

Legologgo · 13/04/2014 21:49

OP

yes - get a job

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 13/04/2014 21:55

I have never wiped the washing line and I have never cleaned the pegs. They live in a basket all year long hanging off the line.

The things you learn on mn...

Marcipex · 13/04/2014 22:51

I washed the pegs last week.
DH did say that I am nuts though.

Marcipex · 13/04/2014 22:52

DH is now saying he thought I was a one-off.

MinesAPintOfTea · 13/04/2014 22:55

Always bring the pegs in so they won't be dirty. Finding them from where ds has scattered them across the house is another matter.

JohnCusacksWife · 13/04/2014 23:02

What's weird is leaving your pegs on the line all winter!

hmc · 13/04/2014 23:06

I think it is overly thorough rather than weird Wink
