To feel like a dreadful mother!

Oh God I'm freaking out, just had the worst experience of my life as a mother (which I absolutely love and am so thankful every day for)

My nearly 3 year old started roaring at me in the shop today and picking up loose veg, I just said right that's it we're going and went to the till and bought my credit, she was still shouting and roaring so I walked ahead of her and took her scooter from the door way and walked out presuming she was beside me. I noticed people on the road looking at me disgustedly and presumed it was because of her roaring. But I turned around and she was stuck in the shop door :O it's a big heavy door and I obviously let it close on her!! She wasn't hurt but stuck none the less and a woman was helping her and looking at me like I was filth! I feel like it, I've never been so ashamed :( a whole cafe and shop saw. I feel sick to my stomach I can only imagine how it looked.
I feel like social workers will be knocking any minute!

Then there was the time DD1 said she felt sick before school. I thought she was faking so took her in anyway. An hour later came the phone call to say she had been sick everywhere When I picked her up she kept saying 'I told you I was sick' , of course her teacher and everyone else heard. Blush

I once accidently jammed my sons fingers in a door then gave him into trouble for what I thought was him tantrumming because I wouldn't let him out to play, but was actually him screaming and fighting with the door to get his fingers unstuck. As soon as I realised what was happening I went white as a ghost and I still feel sick thinking about it 10 years later. He was fine afterwards though.

Honestly, we've all been there, and the dirty looks given to you were probably exaggerated in your head because you were so mortified. Wait about a week and everyone in the shop would have forgotten anyway.

I once slapped DN in the face when we I got carried away playing tag we we're in the park and she has a flare for the dramatics oh the shame :(

I slammed my dds dress shut in the car door in a carpark, then pottered off to shop. I'd reached the door before I realised she wasn't behind me, but crying, stuck trapped to the car.

People saw, I was ashamed.

Ouch, I feel your pain. I've done things like that before, and I am a social worker. So I expect that makes it a million times worse.
