to have important questions regarding Frozen?

My main one being - how do they know it is an eternal winter when it seems to have lasted about five minutes?

Also (sorry, very inappropiate) - if Elsa ever gets a boyfriend/girlfriend, and she gets excited, will she turn them into ice?

How does she know how to build the castle if she has spent all that time trying not to use her powers?

What is she planning to eat in her castle?

Rgindeers are better than people .....

That's my favourite bit!

mrstigs · 11/04/2014 06:53

I'm so glad I've found someone else who sniggers at 'I want you to take me up the North Mountain'! I was worried I was the only one. Grin

Oddthomas · 11/04/2014 06:56

It's now a bit of a euphemism in our house :o

flowery · 11/04/2014 07:14

Drives me potty that they pronounce it "Ah-na". It's Anna!

tedmundo · 11/04/2014 07:14

I seriously considered starting an aibu (after a few glasses of wine to be fair!) asking ...

AIBU to want Kristoff to take me up the North Mountain?

2468Motorway · 11/04/2014 07:28

The Ana pronunciation is just a nod to the Scandinavian roots of the story.

I think when Elsa becomes the snow queen she turns into a young Dolly Parton.

mrstigs · 11/04/2014 07:28

No, tedmundo yanbu. Grin
That said, I also almost developed a crush on Gru during DD2s 'Despicable Me' phase, so I'm not the most rational of people...

Driveway · 11/04/2014 07:36

I thought it was short for Anastasia, myself.

LouSend · 11/04/2014 07:40

Anna's been on her own since she was tiny. For the last 3 years even her parents haven't been around. She has had one plate for each meal. When she sees the servants carrying many plates she exaggerates and declares there to be 8, 000.

Olaf's melting doesn't save Anna.
Kristoff's return doesn't save Anna
Possibly Anna's sacrifice saves Anna
But I think that after Anna freezes Elsa Elsa is so overcome by guilt and love for her sister that she is able not only to feel that love for her sister but to express that love and that is what thaws Anna.

I'm pretty sure Elsa uses a toilet. But this is Disney. There'd be an outcry if they animated a princess taking a dump.

oldspeckledtam · 11/04/2014 07:47

I was told in the Disney shop that the characters are named as a nod to the author of The Snow Queen. So we have Hans, Kristoff, and Anna to make Hans Christian Anderson!

CadleCrap · 11/04/2014 08:12

Grin@ princess taking a dump

Brittapieandchips · 11/04/2014 08:29

Hans, kristoff, Anna, Sven!

The film is about fear and love. Lots of people believe these are the roots of all emotions and, consequently, love. The troll king bloke says 'fear is your enemy' and it is fear that causes the problems. I think whoever said about the gloves being a placebo was right - they act like a magic blanket for bad dreams. As soon as Elsa realises love is more powerful than fear and she stops fearing her magic and can use it effectively and control it.

Sulis · 11/04/2014 08:59

And Olaf does sneeze his carrot nose into Sven's mouth at the end.

MataHairy · 11/04/2014 09:19

an honest trailer for the film

Namechangeforamo · 11/04/2014 09:34

My ds have made up a minecraft version of the lyrics in let it go. Dd (4) shouts at then every time they sing it as shes a Frozen purest.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 11/04/2014 11:58

I thought it was Honor. All DD1's drawings are labelled Honor as she asked me how to spell it! Blush

LouSend · 11/04/2014 12:02

Love that trailer Mata Grin

HermioneWeasley · 11/04/2014 12:05

"Why have a ballroom with NO BALLS" always makes me smirk

Dilidali · 11/04/2014 12:10

I've got relatives visiting. With two sisters. I have never seen them so loving towards each other, I was looking quizzically over their heads at the mum 'are they alright'? Cue to rolling eyes: they think they're Anna and Elsa.
Now every time I see THAT look in their eyes, I either burst into 'do you wanna build a snowman' or I put Frozen on.
Genius!!!

How did Elsa pay for the boots and carrots and rope etc?

LouSend · 11/04/2014 12:15

Maybe she let Oaken... ahem... take her up the north mountain.

Nolda · 11/04/2014 12:32

Ana is the American mispronunciation of the scandinavian way of saying Anna.

HermioneWeasley · 11/04/2014 12:41

I think Oaken is gay-when he waves to his family in the sauna the adult is a man. I wonder if that's why crazy Christians at saying it promotes homo sexuality?

LouSend · 11/04/2014 12:45

Oh. I assumed the bloke was his son. I wondered if the woman on the right was his wife, or perhaps his daughter-in-law. Am I right in thinking Scandinavians tend to sauna as a family?

Miggsie · 11/04/2014 12:47

DD loves Anna because she thumps Hans and pitches him overboard - she thinks this is just the way to express ones feelings to crap people.

At least there is now a Disney film where falling in love with a bloke does not solve everything, the woman is not rescued by the man, the girl is not just there to melt the gruff bloke's heart and turn him into a decent person, the princess eats chocolate and drools and - most important - the actors doing the voices can SING so the songs are melodious and not dreary (yes, Pocahontas, I'm thinking of YOU).
