To not think patched vinyl flooring will look OK?

I've just paid a plumber to fit a suite and put down this www.carpetright.co.uk/bounce-533-pierrot-vinyl-4.html flooring in the bathroom.

I now find that as he had to move some of the boxing in (because the first version was too big and prevented you from using the suite) there are two holes in the flooring that have been filled with silicone.

They look pretty bad so he has suggested patching them. Will this look OK or do I really need the whole floor re-doing?

Sorry finding this a bit difficult to understand and your link doesn't show me the pattern of the vinyl. Depends how big the holes are, but if it's in a noticeable area and you will see it every time you go in there then it should be re-done. Patching it may work - it may look okay when first done, but I think it might deteriorate around the joins.

Surely the access to the suite (this is the bit I don't understand) should have been sorted out first with flooring last though?

Did the flooring not go down after the suite was in?

Well, it was the plumber's idea to put the flooring in first so that it goes underneath the loo, bidet etc rather than having to be cut around them.

In theory it should give a neater finish (and protect the underlying floor better from any water splashes).

So, the flooring went down, then the loo and bidet fitted on top and the pipes boxed in afterwards.

It was this boxing that was re-done.

The patching is where you put your feet if sitting on the bidet (originally the loo pipes were boxed with a lot of spare space around them which meant you couldn't actually sit on the bidet as your knee hit the boxing in.)

The flooring is a sort of all-over marbled effect, not fake tiles or anything so no 'natural' lines in it iyswim.

I hope that makes more sense now - I'm new to having bathrooms fitted let alone trying to describe it on-line!

Thanks for your replies.

Erm I'm not sure about neater finishes or water proofing, any I have had gets trimmed neatly with a Stanley knife round fittings then silicon sealed.

I think he's stuffed up and is trying to get out cheaply, I would be asking him to replace the flooring as its brand new and he's messed it up. Do not let him away with it.
