DD currently goes to an "outstanding" state school. Unfortunately rental prices in our neighbourhood + surrounding areas are £££, so I would like to move to live somewhere slightly bigger than a box of matches.

When would be the best time to move? summer? Anyway I can find out beforehand if she can get a place at another school we like?

thanksConfused

Huh?

You have given so little information.

How far will you be moving?

Is the current school going to be within travelling distance?

Sorry, I don't really get your question!

You need to decide what's important.

Is your child happy at school? What are the local secondary schools like? Are you likely to get her into the secondary school that you want?

Will you stay in the area once she's left school?

If you're going to move, the best time is NOW. I moved my DS last May and wish I had done it earlier. He loves his new school and it was a very good choice to have moved him (though we had different issues than yours).

If you find a school that you would like to move her to and can find more suitable accommodation nearby, speak to the school. They make the decision whether she can start or not. Just don't forget to tell them you're moving to the area, can she start and not if she can start, we're going to move here.

Good luck, I hope you make the right choice.

Outstanding schools are just schools where they know how to box tick well, in my experience they are limited in other areas as all they think about is their reputation and not the children.

I agree - 'outstanding' schools are often just schools where teachers are made to jump through ridiculous hoops to tick boxes rather than provide children with what's best for them. Smile
