to not want my son to have sugary/high calorie deserts at the nursery

My son goes to a nursery which is renown for being a very good one. It has had a series of brilliant Ofsted reports and I am generally happy with it. My son enjoys in and is learning a lot through lots of exciting activities. My childminder picks him up after lunch on the days I work and tells me about some of the deserts he has had. On several occasions he has had pancakes with lots of sugar sprinkled on top. He had yoghurt the other day with cream on top and regularly seems to have bread-rolls covered in Nutella. The first course is homemade and sounds fine.

I'd definately speak to the nursery. There's no need for all of that. Calories are one thing but sugar added to everything is another.

What's wrong with fruit and plain yogurt? And a cooked pudding once a week.

I am aware of what you are saying RainbowSpiral. I don't want my son being the only one not having sugary puddings and I don't want him going berserk when he is in a situation where there is more of a free reign with sugary things. However I don't think the nursery should be supplying the children with a fairly regular menu of sugary puddings.
I am surprised other parents haven't complained. Most pick their children up at 5 or 6 so perhaps they just don't realise. I don't think other parents have mentioned it as I did mentioned it once to the nursery manager seemed totally surprised.
