to think that going gray

Even at the tender age of 24, is not the end of the world?

And that it's rather rude of people to continually point it out to me as if i've never looked in a mirror before.

I have several isolated single strands of silver, mostly on top of my hair. I'm far too lazy to keep dying it, especially as it's very long so even doing it at home would cost a fortune and i always muck it up.

i wouldn't walk up to a friend and point out that they had a massive zit and reccommend a cream for it, so why is it ok for people to point out to me that i'm going grey and start suggesting hairdressers and dyes?

I'm not overly.bothered about it, i actually think my hair is my best feature but it does get very tiresome and it is beginning to make me a little self concious.

Thoughts?

Just reply in the same way I do when people feel the need to point out how fat I am. 'Thanks, I know, I do own a mirror and even use it on occasion'!

YouTheCat · 06/04/2014 11:23

The correct answer is: 'Yes, I know I have a bit of grey there. I can always dye it if I want to but you will always be a rude twat'.

It's not grey, it's expensive silver highlights!!
Do you have children? It would explain going grey early!! Grin

YANBU - I have been grey since very young and although I have kept o top of dyeing mostly, there have been times where a bit has shown and people (or tactless hairdressers) have stared right at the top of my head and said 'you are going grey!' In a really surprised voice.

No shit Sherlock Hmm

However, I won't be giving up the dye any time soon - I am 31 and about 75% grey I reckon, I would look awful if I didn't dye it!

I started going grey at 21, I do dye it.

Im 38 now and have quite a lot of grey, so if I haven't dyed my hair for a while its blindingly obvious yet people still feel the need to point it out to me
Its like they think I don't look in the mirror ever, feel like saying "Do you think I put my hair up and do my makeup with my eyes closed??"

So glad i am not being over-sensetive.

It's bloody annoying, as i said it's not even that i'm self concious about it as such, i have good hair, it's long and healthy and shiny. It's the way people say it as if i should be self concious about it.

The last person who said it to me was a college lecturer who was overseeing a student working on my hair, very professional-not!

I have a lovely grey stripe which makes me a badger type streak. I once had a mum tell me to dye it as it was annoying her. Annoying her was more fun! The other mum's kept laughing as my stripe obviously gets right up her nose and she makes it obvious. They loved the fact I didn't have to say anything to get up her nose!
