To think that people are just getting nastier?

No event in particular.. Just a general feel.. It seems like people are revelling in the fact that they can "one up" somebody else.. It's not a competition. You don't win by putting someone else down, unless you have a really low opinion of yourself. Is it just me or does that seem to be the trend?

YANBU. I think it is to do with how we measure success in modern society. It creates the incentive to put people down and make them feel shit.

In addition society views people trying to be nice at best weak and stupid at worst a cynical attempt to con others. On top of that the British Government are continually pushing on with the divide and conquer system of rule.

I truly think that most people are good/caring/ generous.
Corus.. I'm not sure of your point. I do think you have a need to be contrary though. I haven't challenged you or insulted you or been nasty. Yet you feel the need to keep attacking me.. That's kind of my point.. Don't you get it?
