To think there's no shame in taking a generous discount?

I'm supposed to be organising a posh night out at a restaurant. There will be four of us it's a special occasion. We were thinking of The Ivy or something similar. Anyway I bumped into an old friend who I keep I touch with now an again. We aren't best buddies but message on fb etc. anyway, at the end of the conversation she told me that her husband works at The Ivy not the Ivy btw and if I ever wanted to go to let her know as she would get me the 30% discount. A lot of money to us. Bloody hell, my colleagues have said under no circumstances they would be mortified! Really?

Wow, your colleagues are seriously lacking in sense!

I remember years ago going to Quaglino's in London, with vouchers from the Times, I think (could have been the Torygraph) so that we all only paid £15 for a two-course meal. Of course we wouldn't have gone there without the discount vouchers - but why pass up the chance of getting a better-than-average meal for a discount?!

"Mortified" - dear lord, some people are just so oversensitive! ShockHmm
