To think a doormat with "WIPE YOUR FEET!" written on it outside your front door is...

PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE, RUDE and uninviting?

I think it is and can't believe things like that are made and people actually buy them. Horrible.

No! I always remove my shoes! Unless it's a dry day and my shoes are clean.

Maybe I've overreacted a tiny bit. I don't really like household items with words on them. Like a cushion with "relax" written on it or a teapot with "teapot" written on it. That's just thick. Obviously a mat is for wiping your feet on, why write it on there?

Perhaps to remind people not to just step over it?

It's rude to point, btw. Wink

I think nothing says welcome more than an upfront, no nonsense, tell it like it is doormat.

'Fuck off I hate You' (for when the ex comes to call)

'No I don't want to convert to your dubious religion go away' (Scientoglogists)

And the special MIL welcoming doormat 'Yes I know I'm doing everything wrong you rude moo but I don't care'

I think you got off lightly with 'wipe your feet' OP Grin

I like Pumpkins..
I would get one that said "Take your football boots off in the garden". Just for DS.

PacificDogwood · 31/03/2014 14:25

I SO need a door mat that points its intended use out to my DSs!!
Where can I get one?

I like the sweary etsy one, but it is not particularly family friendly Grin

Mrsdavidcaruso · 31/03/2014 15:20

I have one for the cats and puppy that says 'wipe your paws' they all ignore it

EverythingsDozy · 31/03/2014 15:23

There is one in ikea that says 'you again?' Ha!
And I saw the funniest one at a trade fair once. I still laugh thinking about it. It said (... Wait for it!) "Hi, I'm Matt"!! Hahahaha!!!! GrinGrin

I have a plain doormat and this is probably the reason why no-one uses it to wipe their feet on, just walks over it. Don't get me started on visitors who leave their shoes on indoors. Yes I am looking at you mil when you wear slip on shoes - this means they slip off as well as on.

I wonder if people who have doormats with messages apart from Welcome are really candidates for the JK Show. Mine are all plain. My visitors take their shoes off if they want to as long as they are not left where someone will trip over them. If people come in wearing shoes, that's all right by me as long as they are not workmen with mucky boots.
