I went the other evening to a "ladies evening" - fashion show, tastings etc and there was a raffle with about 50 prizes. They phoned to say I had won a prize si I was excitedly wondering which - there were some lovely things, several new handbags, gorgeous candles, nice make up and small hampers so I couldnt wait - alas what did I get a bee keepiong experience day! am gutted.
If anyone knows a person who would be pleased with such a thing (Bournemouth area) please get in touch and I would be delighted to give it to them.

I once won an extension lead in a raffle.

I was 18 and horrified by the crapness of it.

I moved into my own flat a year later and the extension lead got used. In fact it's still used 16 years later! :-D

I won a pair of bath cubes in a raffle - do they still even exist??

I once gave DD's teacher a gift set as an end of year present, and then won it in the school tombola the following year.

I gave it to the next teacher for Christmas!

I won a free meal off a Sport relief scratch card last weekend.
Was well chuffed until I read the small print.
The offer expired two days later. Unusable.
I was more fed up than if I'd not won anything in the first place.

raffle prizes in this village regularly include eggs, homemade chutney, jam or runner beans.

I'd love to do this and live there too! So if you don't have a claimer yet then keep me in mind! It's actually quite interesting; the guy who gave me my dog used to do a lot - lots of talk over a pint of Ringwood of squashing the queen bees and Broooother Adaaaam (said in Darset accent)!

KurriKurri we had a couple of these which did the full round of Church Fete, School Fete, Christmas Fayre, Annual Village Fun Day etc etc. One in particular was a bottle of something red from Greece, labelled in Cyrillic. After I'd seen it for about the ninth time (and on its third visit to the school Bottle Tombola) I closely examined it and found in very small print a sell by date, over ten years before!
